James McTeigue, director of The Invasion, V for Vendetta and the forthcoming Ninja Assassin, has been tapped to helm The Raven for FilmNation Entertainment and Endgame, reports /Film. “It’s like the poem, 'The Raven', itself, crossed with 'Se7en'," he tells the site. "It should be pretty cool. The script is really good and everyone responds to it really well. I’m in the middle of casting.” Written by Hannah Shakespeare and Ben Livingston, the film is a thriller set in the last days of Edgar Allan Poe's life, when he gets wrapped up in a serial killer investigation.
Anytime someone makes a film based on the works of the great Poe, I usually fear the worse. I will keep an open mind and hope they can capture the essense of the master of the macabre.
The director was able to turn v from the brooding antihero you love to hate in the comics into the lovable funny character in the movie who was the goof ball with a serious side. I can't wait until I see what this guy dose and hopefully not like Lucas' "faster and more"
I loved V, and that is one of my favorite poems besides Ligeria. And I agree Horrorchick, the cast could make or break this movie. Here's hoping! I can't help but get excited, though.
Guys, this ISN'T an adaptation of the poem, read the damn article! Jesus!
