B-D Reviews: A Positive Weekend Thanks to 'The Collector' and 'Thirst'

After a summer of crap and more crap, this weekend there is not one, but TWO movies that you really must see. The first is Freestyle Releasing's The Collector, "It’s no shock that working on the past three SAW films has influenced the duo, and it shows in THE COLLECTOR, a raw, gritty and uncompromising horror film that puts the previous SAW film to shame." In addition, NY and LA theatergoers will have a chance to see Park Chan-wook's (Oldboy) vampire comedy Thirst in theaters. "At the hands of a less competent director, THIRST could have been an abomination, but thankfully Chan-wook delivers something above par that should probably be met with two cans of Red Bull." You can click the titles above for the full reviews and to write your own reviews to tell all of Bloody-Disgusting what YOU thought. I really want to see Thirst, but I'm nowhere near NY or LA. When's it supposed to hit DVD?

Hey now, hey now, truchainsaw, Saw 6 isn't out yet. And if you watched in on your computer it doesn't count. Besides, Saw 2 is the worst one. It's so fucking cliche'.

I saw this Movie in Orlando thanks to BD. In my opinion it wasn't great. There was a LOT of gore but no background story to the killer (Collector). You don't know why he does what he does, where he came from, why he is wearing that mask, and what is his purpose is for the future. I might give it a 3.5/10. Don't waste your time or money.

Saw 3, 4, and 5 are tied for the worst. It's science, really.

Please please please please PLEASE go out to your local theater to see The Collector. It's a PHENOMENAL horror movie, and I am 100% sure you will enjoy it. Don't let another horror great BOMB at the box office. Get off your asses and support what is easily the sleeper hit of the summer.

I plan on seeing The Collector this weekend and going in with extremely low expectations, mostly going just to keep horror in theaters I guess. stoked for some good gore though, hope it delivers.

Just got back from The Collector and I'm terribly happy all that talk about a lame twist ending was BS. I can't wait for The Collector 2. Seriously, I wish Saw 4 and 5 had been half this good.

I just saw this and I went in with very low expectations. The premise is just okay, and overall the movie is very dull, lifeless, dour and kind of pointless. Not one thing is revealed about the killer and you can tell the "writers" are building an arc to a larger story, but this felt like a very, very long intro.

I confused as to how you could call The Collector lifeless and dull. You could call it derivative or pointlessly gory, but if there's one thing the movie does right its the suspense. If this movie proves anything its that Marcus Dunstan makes a better director than he does a screenwriter.

I just saw The Collector last night. Alright, so I wasn't expecting it to be awesome but it was barely good. Yes it did have suspense but I still wish it could of been better. If they do make The Collector 2 I will probably not watch it.

I really want to see The Collector, but neither of the theatres in my city got it, and one of them (the one I work at) is one of the busiest in Eastern Canada.

Never mind. I just checked the corporate website and it isn't playing anywhere in Canada, at least not in Empire theatres. Boo!!

Me and my gf just got back from The Collector... we both HATED it. I agree with whoever called it dull. It was VERY dull and boring. It was pretty much just the main character going around telling the other people in the house to be quiet. HUGE let down.

I liked The Collector a fair bit, but I would have liked more story instead of allllll the lovely, indulgent torture shots. I feel like this movie took the title of "torture porn" that Saw and Hostel were labeled with, and decided that it wanted to show everyone what REAL torture porn looked like. Still, it had some pretty badass moments. ^.^

Just seen the weekend box office over on your side of the pond. Good work guys, the Collector bombed, didn't even make the top ten. Granted, it didn't get a huge release, but it's screen average was terrible. Enjoy the remakes and the tween targeted shite, you earned it.
