Quint over at Aint it Cool News broke the news this weekend on the first voice casting for The Goon. Creator Eric Powell tells the site that "The Goon is going to be Clancy Brown... The Kurgan!...And Frankie is going to be none other than Paul Giamatti." I've never read "The Goon", but I picked up a few TPBs to give it a go, the "Metalocalypse/The Goon" one shot was pretty incredible. Those unfamiliar with "Goon" (like me), the story is about the adventures of the Goon, a muscle-bound brawler who claims to be the primary enforcer for the feared mobster Labrazio. The Goon (and his sidekick Franky) often get tied up in other machinations, often in relation to the evil zombie gangs under the command of the Nameless Zombie Priest.
The Goon is one of the best books out there, period! I love the dark humor! Personally, I kinda envisioned Brad Garret voicing the Goon, but Clancy Brown is pretty close!
THE GOON is the shit! and i'm glad they went the animated route instead of live action.i would love to see that great italian comic RANXEROX done the same way.
The priest is rumplstillskin! Other characters are a giant talking loser spider, a couple bog troll twins, the airborn communist mollusk millitia, the sometimes evil dr heronimus alloy, and other odd balls.
