UPDATE: Contrary to what we're beng told, Max Brooks' manager is telling B-D that Marc Forster is in fact still attached to direct. Now we play the waiting the game. Some word came it at the San Diego Comic Con that Paramount Pictures is currently seeking a new director to get behind the camera for their forthcoming adaptation of World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War. Marc Forster, who bored us to death with Quantum of Solace, was originally slated to direct. The book is a sober telling of the aftermath of a war fought against a legion of humans who were inflicted with a virus, died and were reanimated into flesh-eating zombies. "World War Z" will be published in the fall by Crown. Written by the author of the satire "The Zombie Survival Guide."
Perhaps it's for the best. I thought that Quantum of Solace was definitely a step down from Casino Royale, partly because the action scenes weren't all that well directed. Not a bad director, just maybe not the best to take on big apocalyptic end of the world scenes of hordes of zombies taking over.
Doubt this will ever get made.
And er...isn't the book already published? Bit confused as the article says it is being published in the fall, but it's been out quite a while ;)
"'World War Z' will be published in the fall by Crown." Uh...what? The book has been out for several years now. Perhaps you meant "Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks" also by Max Brooks which will be published October 6, 2009.
I wish they'd hurry up and pull their fingers out of their arse, I've been waiting years for this to get made into a movie.
Both the Zombie Survival Guide and WWZ are brilliant books and diserve a really good adaptation.
