Platinum Dunes: Response to Freddy Debut
Friday, July 24, 2009

The new Freddy Krueger, along with the official one sheet for A Nightmare on Elm Street was revealed at the San Diego Comic Con this week, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Producer Brad Fuller has updated his official blog with a special thank you and request that you keep the feedback coming, positive or negative, so long as it's constructive. Good ol' Freddy returns as the dream demon on April 30, 2010 (as reported yesterday). The films' premise centers on Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley), a serial child molester murdered by angry parents, who returns with a burnt face and a razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams.

I have high hopes for this. Jackie will be amazing, but I will be careful after seeing what Platinum did with FRIDAY. Still dissapointed about that.

I guess I'm one of the people who liked Friday the 13th, Granted the kills could've been alot bloodier and inventive but in that movie Jason was a bad ass. I think the first shots of Freddy, although in shadow, Were awesome. I am pumped for more about this film.

In the old NOES I don't think freddy was a kid toucher, though it seems to have been implied. I'm fine with this change, as it seems like one that will actually make freddy more scary. There will never be a NOES as good as Pt.2 again IMO though. People say that was the worst one, but that title by far belongs to 'New Nightmare'. That film just stunk, and the little kid was fucking annoying.

Friday the 13th was BORING!! Sorry Brad but it was. Plrase don't ruin Freddy. I can only hope it's kick ass and as brutal as the first one. TCM remake was great. I hope this film has the energy, the flow like that did.

Hey Platinum Dunes. I have very high faith in you that you won't make some of the annoying mistakes in the Freddy remake, like you some what did in Friday the 13th(2009). As long as there is no repititive, annoying, unnecessary comedy, and there is serious characters, then I'm fine. I trst you guys to make an awesome film.

Friday the 13th was very mediocre, it could have just as easily been a filler sequal created to get to the next sequal as quickley as possible, with out all the grand hype of being a remake. I just can not help but laugh at the physical tug of war over the screwdriver between 300 pound serial killer, and the a 120 pound asian kid. That was dumb as hell. I scincerely hope this won't be the same thing.

Maybe Brad fuller will hang himself by his underwear. Oh wait, I forgot he doesn't give a crap about the fans. Well i hope freddy doesn't molest me in my dreams.

ur an idiot ttop33, if he didnt give a shit about the fans, then you wouldn't hear a word from him AT ALL during production. I for one commend PD for their work (however generally mediocre its been so far) and am really looking forward to seeing this movie.

i see some of the element in Friday the 13th remake like in part 4 final chapter Jason grab tommy jarvis from the window just like toward the end of Friday the 13th remake Jason grab clay from the barn window then the snob rich dude in Friday the 13th remake minded me of the snob bitch in Friday the 13th part 7 new blood the chinesse dude minded me but my fav Friday the 13th is part 7 new blood

Everything looks good so far but I won't get too excited because Platinum Dunes usually provides disappointment.

This better be good with all the post-production they have lol.

Lol, NoES2 sucked monkey nuts. Some good scenes for its time, but it didn't hold up so well after a decade or so passed it by. Oh, and Skudd: dude, say you're 120 lbs soaking wet, and some 300 lb guy in a hockey mask is trying to shove a screwdriver, very painfully, into your windpipe. You're not going to struggle at all? Just let him shove that sucker on in there, huh? Good times. As for this new NoES, I'm just hoping they have the balls to SHOW us the kills... that was really the only thing I didn't like about the new Friday the 13th. Marcus Nispel, who went to then-unheard of heights of brutality in TCM, cut away from damn near every kill scene in Friday. Decent movie, just not nearly brutal enough, considering it implied so much more killing than it actually showed.

I don't know, maybe I stand alone but I have really loved most of Platinum dunes stuff. TCM was amazingly scary. I sat next to a guy who literally cried because he was so freaked out. I think Friday the 13'th and nightmare are receiving such flack just because they are fan favorites, but we have to remember this is brand new, so why walk in with any expectations. and if you want to talk cheesy lets look at the original friday, it was low budget cheesy as hell, but that part of why i love it. I for one enjoy ANY chance I get to go and sit in a theater for an hour and a half and see these characters again for the first time. Honestly Freddy vs jason was not the best caliber movie in my opinion, but it was great to see the boys again!!!

This is my 2 cents as a horror and a Freddy fan for Mr Fuller. I'm looking forward very much to this movie. You have an excellent actor as your villain. My hesitation is this: why remake a movie if the only changes are casting? I haven't seen the footage yet, but the description reads like it could have been from the first NOES. Maybe some see that as good (I've read a lot of positive things about that first pic of our new Freddy at a chalk board), but if I wanted to see something like that, I'd go watch the first again. To hear it talked about (I realize I misinterpreted) I was thinking that more than just Freddy's makeup was going to change, so when I saw the previously mentioned first pic, my reaction was very much "Oh . . . it's the same gaddamn thing, just slicker." And so far, I've seen and heard nothing to change that impression. I know it's very early though, so please. Impress me.

We can only hope that this isn't another horrendous dissapointment. Should we start a countdown to miserable failure? I hope to see a trailer soon.

If Fuller and Form reads this, then I do have some feedback. WATCH THE MOCK TEASER THAT IS ON YOUTUBE!! Put flames on Freddy, and drive home the idea of heat. That teaser was kick ass, and you should get permission to use the idea. That is the only creative input that would make remaking the film worth it.
