One of the cooler items we got our hands on at this year's San Diego Comic Con was the first three one sheet from MGM's Drew Goddard's Cabin in the Woods, which stars Chris Hemsworth, Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford, Kristen Connolly, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, Jesse Williams and Brian White. The posters are pretty awesome as they throw a little elbow at our beloved slasher genre, read on and tell us what you think. Much like "Cloverfield," which Goddard scripted, the "Cabin" story line provides a new twist on a classic scenario -- in this case the young-people-stranded-in-the-woods horror trope. MGM release the "end all" slasher film on February 5, 2010.
These where done to death with Scream and the 1000000 copy cat films that followed it. Can't understand why everyone is excited but anyways, hopefully its good
So the taglines, as rightfully pointed out by appleOFdiscord, reeks of Scream's tired, played out self awareness, and the posters look like Cabin Fever. Oddly, my interest my piqued.
Looks great. Apple is right, though. All these self-aware, nudge nudge, self-parody slasher movies are starting to get annoying. Where's the slasher film that is just unapologetically a fucking SLASHER FILM. Why do they all have to be introspective and ironic? Regardless of all that, these are great posters, and I'm looking forward to seeing some sort of trailer.
Very Cool posters. Anxious to see this. A trailer would be nice.
