SDCC '09: James Wan and Leigh Whannell's 'Saw' Goes 3-D
Monday, July 20, 2009

We just received a little teaser image from Legend Films that teases a forthcoming 3-D release of Saw, James Wan and Leigh Whannell's breakthrough horror film that has since spawned six sequel (with a seventh already being written). No details were given and it's unclear if it's going to hit theaters or go direct-to-disc, but this is definitely something to look forward to. With a dead body laying between them, two men (Whannell and Elwes) wake up in the secure lair of a serial killer who's been nicknamed "Jigsaw" by the police because of his unusual calling card.

i thought to make a 3D film you had to actually film the movie with a special 3D camera?

Hot damn, way to milk this cash cow. And exactly what elements of the original film would make for a good 3D transfer? Because I can't remember one scene that jumped off the screen in this movie.

Absolutely adore the saw films, but i don't see why this is necessary.

I thought they need to film the film using 3D technology also. In any case, this is pathetic.

i love 3d gimmicks for movies(guilty pleasure), but i'd rather them make a future saw sequel in 3d, not the first one.

wait, the first movie in 3-D? mmm... weird, but might be cool... watch saw for the story (and the cool traps) so i'm neutral on this one...

the original is always the best and bloody you have a picture of a girl cross dressing as a guy and the character was pretty bad in the original movie....so you have no room to speak

How could they 3D this film? There is nothing really that good enough to make jump out at you.

I would LOVE it if they would bring this back to the big screen, 3D or not. I didn't get to see it in a theater and it's turned out to be one of my fav horror movies, so I would love to be given a second chance!

I'd like to see this in theaters. Not so much because of the 3-D element, that's just kinda a cool gimmick, but because I never got to see the original in theaters.

well then finaly saw presented to you in your face...lol they better not skimp either..

I'd take a re-release of the first film, 3D or not, over a 3D Saw sequel any day.

I don't see how anything can jump out at you. Like some people said above though, I'd love to see Saw in theaters since I didn't get to see it the first time around.

ok yeah ? but will it be released in 3D cinemas ? , you have to admire the saw franchise as they are milking it for all it's worth & then some .

3D is so lame..

LOL...just how much longer can they milk this cow??? There must be some new effects of blood flying out at the camera or something, otherwise I just don't see how the 3D could be used.
