Updated with full specs on each film's release and the cover art! Lionsgate Home Entertainment has revealed early details on the next wave of Ghost House Underground titles -- and it's good! DVD and Blu-ray (!) releases of Seventh Moon (from the co-director of The Blair Witch Project), The Thaw (starring Val Kilmer in a very X-Files-esque terror tale), Offspring (the latest Jack Ketchum adaptation), and The Children (hands down one of the best films of the year) will each be available to own on October 6th. No other details were revealed, but DVD Active has your first look at the cover art.

SEVENTH MOON

Ghost House Underground

Director Eduardo Sanchez, winner of the 1999 Cannes Film Festival Award of Youth for The Blair Witch Project, “returns with a brilliantly conceived and executed supernatural thriller” (Fantastic Fest). According to an ancient Chinese myth, on the full moon of the seventh lunar month, the gates of hell open and the dead are freed to roam among the living. While honeymooning in China, a young newlywed couple takes part in a sacred event that honors these spirits. Unfortunately their enthusiasm borders on mockery and their disagreeable charm ends in angry glances among the locals. As night falls, their tour guide abandons them in a desolate field. What they thought was a joke is becoming far too real as they fight to survive the night of the Seventh Moon.

OFFSPRING

Ghost House Underground

They Hunt in Packs. They Feed on Flesh. They prey on innocence. They are back with a vengeance and an insatiable appetite for human flesh. Their time has come – again. Based on the acclaimed novel and adapted for the screen by bestselling author Jack Ketchum, Offspring follows the survivors of a brutal flesh-eating clan that has re-surfaced in the once sleepy town of Dead River, Maine. The locals are in for a rude awakening when they realize it’s the same pack that the sheriff thought he killed off a decade ago. Just when they thought the nightmare was over, they’re about to discover that the fight for their lives has only just begun. The film was included in the Fangoria Weekend of Horror and Rue Morgue’s Festival of Fear.

THE THAW

Ghost House Underground

Val Kilmer (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) stars as a renowned environmental advocate, Dr. David Kruipen, who discovers the real horror of global warming in the frightening new film The Thaw. When Dr. Kruipen discovers the carcass of a woolly mammoth in a polar ice cap, he helms a team of four bright ecology students and leads them in a research mission at a remote Arctic station. The group uncovers information beyond their wildest dreams…and nightmares…when a pre-historic parasite revives and searches for a new warm-blooded host. Now, infected, the unsuspecting students are forced to choose between a quarantine that will result in their burial ground or a global epidemic.

THE CHILDREN

Ghost House Underground

You brought them into the world. They will take you out. A family anticipates a Christmas filled with sledding, laughter and hot cocoa as they head to their vacation home in the secluded backcountry. The holiday cheer takes a fast turn for the worst after a mysterious flu-like virus sweeps through the kids. One by one the children become deadly. Amidst the suspicion, mayhem and murder, the parents must fight for survival against their own twisted offspring. The Children was declared “relentless, primal horror” (Guardian), a “taboo shattering movie” (Time Out), “Village of the Damned for the 21st Century” (IGN.com) and Steve Niles, author of the graphic novel 30 Days of Night says, “I will never go near a playground again!”

Definitely checking all of these out. Surprised that not one is a foreign language film this time. Those probably didn't rent as well the last time. In order of anticipation: 1. Offspring (because of JK) 2. The Children (Great reviews) 3. The Thaw (Good cast) 4. Seventh Moon (Amy Smart...nuff said)

'The Children' was laughably bad. Looking forward to 'Offspring', however.

Seen The Children at the advice of Mr. Disgusting himself. Had its moments, but it was pretty weak. The Thaw and Offspring sound good, though, I wanna see those like now.

can tell you right now that I already believe this batch will be alot better than last years. I have already seen The Children and I thought it was an awesome flick and as someone above said one of the best children killer flicks out there and no children of the corn doesn't have s hit on it. I also saw the trailer for Seventh Moon on my MBV dvd and I thought it looked awesome, but was dissapointed when I looked it up and it wasn't out yet. I don't know about Thaw except it could be decent based off of the trailer, but I'm not that excited for it. Offspring sounds it like it could be awesome and the book I heard that it's based off of is suppose to be pretty kickass so I'm looking forward to that one the most. Peace Out !

OffSPRING? WTF happened to Off SEASON? Why bother making the sequel first?

All 4 sound awesome. I've only known about The Children, Offspring, and Seventh Moon cause someone on another site gave the info out. But I'm surprised they all look good if not better than last years.

YEEESSSSSS!!!!! WE GET THE CHILDREN! Plus, Offspring and The Thaw don't sound too shabby, either.

I really enjoyed Seventh Moon. Can't wait to grab the BluRay. Sucks that the cover art for the films are overpowered by the ugly Ghosthouse logo. Seriously, these films stand LESS of a chance of being bought because it gives off the impression these are nothing more than shoe-string horror films.

Being that I will basically buy anything that is horror (I think I'm one of the few people who ACTUALLY bought ALL of the Afterdark Horrorfests and ALL of the Ghost House Underground series) I must say that I think these four DVDs will be better than all of the Afterdark and first series of Ghost House so I will be getting them, but I have a feeling that I will not be as let down as I was previously. I'm looking forward to Offspring. I'm a Ketchum fan and I loved the trailer. I have seen the trailers for the others (with the exception of Thaw). I'm excited.
