One of my favorite 80's horror movie is getting re-relased with its original score newly restored for the first time on DVD. Mark your calendars for October 13 as Anchor Bay will be releasing J. Lee Thompson's Happy Birthday to Me. You'll find the sales sheet below, which appears to have no word on a Blu-ray release (now that would be a bummer). More details when announced. Virginia is proud that she belongs to a clique. The best students at a private school. But before her 18th birthday, a grueling set of murders take place and her friends are the ones who are falling prey. Could it be her? She suffers from blackouts due to a freak accident one year earlier. We soon learn the truth behind her accident and what is going on...
This is awesome new! I wonder if the cut gore will be included as well? It's already looking good with the cover art and original score back in. Look forward to getting this.
That poster is just sooo classic, why in Hell did they change it for the other release? Oh, and Thanx for rubbing that party invite on our faces, Mr. D!!!
That's awesome that they're using the original one sheet. One of the most memorable in the genre, IMO.
Also great news about the score! Hopefully they core will be re-instated too, *crosses fingers*.
Although the new score has grown on me (the opening track is pure disco cheese), I am so excited to read this news! Can't wait, hope there are some special features.
Awesome. I can stop kicking myself for not picking up the previous release the day I saw it in a local pawn shop. Of course it was gone the following weekend when I finally decided to get it.
lets just say i was not pumped about the music the slipped into the previous release. i totally threw the dvd at the back of some shelf and reverted to watching my old, taped from cable vhs tape. so this is good news.
What about extras? Does it at least include the trailer? A commentary with cast and crew would be more than welcome.
