What happened to The Thing on the Doorstep? What a bummer, but at least Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator) is now circling another horror project, The House on the Borderland, an adaptation of William Hope Hodgson’s novel. Adapted by David Benullo (Hallowed Ground), the supernatural thriller focuses on a family that relocates to a relative’s rural home only to discover it guards the border between our dimension and another which is inhabited by a race of hostile creatures.
As there's no set date on this yet, Gordon might still do "Thing." He's directing "Nevermore...an Evening with Edgar Allan Poe," Jeffrey Combs' awesome one-man theatrical show for the rest of the month and they might even tour it later this year.
I've also heard he's (no joke!) doing a romantic comedy next as well.
There's still hope for "Thing on the Doorstep," I believe. This is just one of many of Gordon's upcoming projects.
Stuart Gordon, brilliant director! Re- Animator was scary as hale! His style is similar to Brian Yuzna, but he's more out there, as far as scare factor is concerned. Jeffrey Combs must be his best friend, he's been in a few of his movies.
Stuart Gordon is a god. It's a shame that House of Re-Animator isn't happening, but then I think he's right when he says that it only really would have worked in the previous political climate. This sounds like it's well within his ballpark though. He should go old school with it, get Combs, Abbott and Barbara Crampton onboard. Mmmmmmmmmmm Barbara Crampton.
