Joe Dante (Gremlins, Piranha, The Howling) is back again with another family horror film, The Hole, which centers on two brothers who discover a mysterious hole in the basement that leads to their worst nightmares. Today we added the first of our two-part set report that features B-D reporter Jeff Otto's experience on set with director Joe Dante. Itd be nice to see more horror developed for children - not teens. Its fun to get scared when its not taken too far. I've tried to watch so many innapropriate films with my little girl - I once popped in Amityville Dollhouse in and watched it with her. Left the room after a bit and she finished it. Came back later to learn of rapes and incest and shit.... OOPS. Go Dante!
I agree. Horror shouldn't JUST be there for teens. It's should be for everybody because everybody gets scared and everybody has things they consider horrific. Children are no exception, and there are some pretty good things you can do with children in horror flicks that can get more scares than if you used teens or adults! I'm pretty stoked about this! Family Horror is a underrated sub-genre in horror(particularly modern horror).

Now that I've got that out of the way, super stoked for this. Joe Dante is a great director, just hasn't always directed the best movies :P
halloweenchief, it's not that at all. I love blood, guts and titties, but all horror is not just all about that(slashers, maybe). Horror's a very diverse genre, and should be kept that way so any and everybody could come in and choose what they want rather that what others tell them horror SHOULD be like.
see if the two brothers just played with each other's 'HOLE',they wouldn't have these nightmares.
