David Arquette on 'Scream' Return

It was confirmed yesterday that both David Arquette and Courteney Cox would be returning for Scream 4, which is currently being reworked by screenwriter Kevin Williamson after Neve Campbell threw a kink in the wheel by refusing to return as Sidney Prescott. Today, Arquette talked with the NY Post about the forthcoming new trilogy and why he decided to return. Read on for the skinny.

"I love the 'Scream' franchise, I'm just honestly excited to be making another one," Arquette exclaimed. "I figured it would be a blast to bring these characters back to life and see how they've grown since 'Scream 3,'" he told the NY Post. "Working with Wes has been amazing and Kevin is an incredible artist. My wife and I really wanted to do this."

While David and I agree on all those fronts -- exactly what has Dewey been doing? -- there is one place where we don't see eye to eye: He's still holding out hope for Neve's return. "I really hope Neve does it."

YES!!!!! scream and the scream series are my favorite horrror movies i cant wait 4 it espicially since kevin is writing wes is directing and the arquettes are back. I will say that this is supposed 2 be a whole new trilogy but i think in order for that 2 work nev campbell HAS to come back. But only for 1 reason....to die in the opening scene so they can establish a new story instead of continuing with the sidney character. Neve needs to accept this role to rejuvinate her career and this can be the film to do it. Scream is the GREATEST slasher movie of all time. And yes BETTER than the original halloween. And the trilogy is much better than the halloween series. So its great seeing the BEST series in horror movie history make a comeback!!!

Bring back scream! The first one was a landmark. If Neve's not in it at all, then it's gonna be a dud.

This is a bad idea.

At least this isn't a remake or something like we have been getting. It is something we've had before but maybe it will be new and fresh. I do hope Nev comes back but if not oh well.

Notice how everybody involved at this point doesn't have a career going for them anymore. Hmmmm...

This is GOOD news.

Neve needs some good $$$ to return. I havent seen her in any films since scream 3. if i did it was so brief and forgettable that i dont remember. Why not come back and try to sort of make a comeback to the mainstream...if that isnt appealing im sure a fat paycheck would be

At least they are both keen for it! Hope Wes gives us some more joy and returns too.

And Scream 3 wasnt very good. Scream 1 and 2 were brilliant films. but the third was a real setback in my opinion. but i think they tried to do the best they could with what they had.

I'm excited for this b/c I grew up in the SCREAM generation. :)

This should definitly be about remakes though, it's the perfect theme for a enw Scream film.

Seriously, I know sequels aren't the pinnacle of originality but I am psyched to see an in-canon SEQUEL for once rather than a bullshit boring ass redundant remake. Give me a sequel ANYDAY. Prequels can fuck off too.

CGI Neve's character in the opening of scream 4 and kill her in a horrific way then...lol

i agree with ya Protecious....i hope she does return it wouldnt be the same even if its like for the first ten min of the film. she aint doing crap now! have her charecter killed off in the first ten min if she doesnt want to be in for the whole thing. (do like how jamie lee curtis in halloween ressurection). i cant wait to see dewdrop again! im all for it as long as it aint no freaking remake then im all for a sequel.

Someone has taken their love of remakes one step too far!

I wonder if they will keep her under wraps as a secret cameo in the film. I think she would make a perfect opening death victim. Obviously she would either have to die in the beginning or she's found out to be the killer at the end and die. She ain't got shit to do might as well reprise her role for one last time.

I think if the script truly is good (which I can't see why not, Kevin's doing it), Wes Craven will definitely return. He knows he has tons of fans that would love to see him direct a new one.

"I love the 'Scream' franchise, I'm just honestly excited to be making another one" Cos it's the only job he can get.

im just happy that this isnt a remake and its a sequel to a franchise, that at least for me, didnt kill itself and left you wanting more. the first was amazing the second was a good sequel and the third lacked what the first two had but waiting ten years to do another should bring back the greatness that was SCREAM

Neve Campbell is currently working on the television show "The Philanthropist" on NBC. She's working in television like so manymovie stars are these days.

The Scream series is like my guilty pleasure. I consider myself to be a hard core old time horror/ slasher fan, but something about the Scream films just pulls me in.

Neve Campbell is busy with other projects. Like waitressing at Denny's.
