Bloody-Disgusting just received quite a healthy tip that Tim Sullivan's long-delayed sequel to his remake of 2001 Maniacs, currently titled 2001 Maniacs: Beverly Hellbillys, is set to finally go behind camera as early as NEXT WEEK. We are working feverishly to confirm, but companies like IM GLOBAL are being tight-lipped. Rumor has it that Christa Campbell is set to reprise her role as the sexy Milk Maiden, with word that Bill Moseley (TCM 2, The Devil's Rejects, The Tortured) has joined the cast of crazies. The UPDATE is that Robert Englund will NOT be returning as Mayor Buckman. We'll do some digging to see what we can find out, remember to keep this filed under rumor until we can confirm. 2001 Maniacs: Beverly Hellbillys synopsis: After the sheriff refuses to cover up any further for the maniacs causing all the missing persons in the area, they're forced to hit the road in what's dubbed the "Pleasant Valley Traveling Road Show," where the maniacs head across country in hopes of gathering more victims. We'll follow a young TV crew called the "Road Rascals" as they find themselves mixed up with another one of the maniacs' deadly festivals.

I would love a sequel, the first was too much fun to leave as just one film. And getting Englund back is a smart move as he was one of the best things about the first. I actually think this is his best role yet.

Aw man, I really hope Englund does come back. But shit, even if he doesn't, I'll happily sit through another two hours of carnage. The first was so much fun!
Englund should take advantage here. He is becoming one of those old hat actors that just take whatever they can get.
And for all you that can't wait to jack off over him IMDB has him listed as in on the project. So spank spank spank that monkey.
imdb is not a credited source. IMDB have also stated that Phantasm 5 is "In Production" for years now. I hope Englund is in it as much as the next, but I believe with a strong character actor like Bill Mosely the film could be great. I talked to anchor bay whom also stated that they made an offer to Tony Todd. could be a way cool film.
