We've got another trio of quick bits for those of you looking for a little something before bed. First, Entertainment Weekly reports that there won't be a second season for "Harper's Island," despite the season finale doing better than this previous May's episodes. Meanwhile, Dread Central is reporting that John Harrison (Book of Blood) is currently penning the screenplay for Cell, the adaptation of the Stephen King series that original had Eli Roth attached to write and direct. While there is no director onboard, Harrison would like to take the helm for the Weinstein Company. Lastly, we've got our hands on a dozen new hi-res stills from Warner Bros. Pictures' Orphan, arriving in cinemas July 24. Read on and click the image to check them all out.

Harper's Island was decent enough to have had me thrilled during its duration, not sure if I'd like another season.. I'm glad for "Cell"; I've read the book and I really liked it, so I'm looking forward to the series... Strange enough, I'm only waiting for 'Orphan' because of its director, the same as the amazing reimagining of 'House of Wax'...

Harper's Island was never ment to be a series with multiple seasons!

Harper's Island was OK, cool kills, good twists. It should have gotten more coverage from the horror community. We have to support what little we get horror-wise on TV.

I loved Harper's Island, too bad it's not coming back. I read an interview from one of the people involved, and the plan if it was going to return was to do something different every season. The first was the slasher season, the second was supposed to be something similair to Saw, and the third was going to have some type of exorcist angle. Really dissapointed it's not coming back.

I enjoyed Harper's Island but I'm glad they're not going to try and milk it with further seasons. It was announced as a 13 episode series and I'm glad they stuck with it. I wish US TV would do more limited series and do them well instead of coming up with an interesting premise and then drive it into the ground trying to drag it out for as long as possible (Prison Break, anyone?).

I loved every minute of Harper's Island, but I don't think a second season would've worked well.

count me in too. HI was AWESOME! and i agree that a 2nd season would've been really hard to work. i really liked the characters in THIS season (Cal, Chloe, Sully, Trish, etc). it's VERY rare for a TV show (not including LOST) to have some tearjerker/heartbreaking moments and HI had SEVERAL (again, CAL&CHLOE on the bridge and then TRISH running for her life in her wedding dress only to have.......you know...)......................and i'm happy about CELL. i thought it was already written but at least it's still in the pipeline.

and regarding CELL, on shocktilyoudrop.com it says it's going to be a MINI-SERIES!! which makes sense because a lot goes on in the book. and it CAN still be a bit gory even for tv (HARPER'S ISLAND had MANY gory moments. gory even for a tv show!).

I agree minya, bloody disgusting should've been convering Harper's Island as must as they possibly could. We really need to support our horror television shows because they rarely come about! So hopefully the next time a horror series air, BD would freaking cover it. After all, this is the number one horror site! I'm glad CBS aired all thirteen episodes of HI and didn't just pull the plug on it! They have my respect.

i agree. (not that i'm bashing it) but if BD can cover TWILIGHT (which i'm glad they do) they could've DEFINITELY covered HI. it's everything HORROR. gory killings (for TV), mystery killer(?), surprise twists..............also BD needs (and should've been for years now) to support/cover SUPERNATURAL. it is ALL ABOUT HORROR. come on guys.

Harper's Island, equals best series CBS ever produced EVER... great writing, great acting, pretty fucked up deaths for reg TV show. But I am really happy they aren't making a second season someday down the road come out with Return to Harpers Island in which Jimmy and Abby become the killers and they start fuckin shit up.

I would have liked a 2nd season but start completely fresh. All new cast and locale. I read an interview once for the EP who stated it was always planned to be a 13 episode series but if it did wel they would keep the name Harpers but change Island to something else. All new cast, mystery kills, etc.

I LOVED Harper's Island. And yeah, I agree, BD should cover Supernatural as well. I mean, you guys cover True Blood, that's a great horror TV show, and so is Supernatural! Harper's Island was amazing. The last, like, 7 episodes were fucking GREAT. I am most deffinately buying the DVD if they don't come out with a Blu-ray for the show. And if I'm not mistaken, the second season of Harper's Island would NOT have taken place at Harper's Island.. it would be a completely different story, a different place, different characters, a different mystery. So I'm pretty upset they won't get the chance to tell the other stories. Harprer's Island was one of the best surprises of the year.. the first few episodes weren't that great, but like I said, it just got better and better.
