The Digital Bits is reporting that Warner Home Video has confirmed that The Exorcist: The Version You've Never Seen will be released on Blu-ray September 8th! The theatrical cut better also be on that disc or heads will roll. No extras or specs were revealed at this time. Based on the 1971 novel by William Peter Blatty, The Exorcist marries three different scenarios into one extraordinary plot. A visiting actress in Washington, D.C., notices dramatic and dangerous changes in the behavior and physical make-up of her 12-year-old daughter. Meanwhile, a young priest at nearby Georgetown University begins to doubt his faith while dealing with his mother's terminal sickness. And, book-ending the story, a frail, elderly priest recognizes the necessity for a show-down with an old demonic enemy.

I also hope that the theatrical edition gets the blu treatment. It is vastly superior to the newer version.

They didn't let Friedkin touch the transfer on this release did they? We don't need another French Connection.

Yeah, Friedkin did this release. What was wrong with "Connection"? This is NOT the version that became a classic...this is NOT the version that was Nominated for 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture and this is NOT the version that WON "BEST PICTURE" Golden Globes....and we HAVE all seen it! He should have done a DIRECTOR'S CUT with just a couple of things added to it and all those stupid, obvious stills of Captain Howdy flashing at you removed. This movie WINS "BEST SOUND" that year and he replaces the soundtrack with another person's work...pretty rude. I heard he's taken a B&W print for the Exorcisim and mixed it with a blueish one...huh? But, I'll buy it...damn it!
