Trailer: First Official Look at Dario Argento's 'Giallo'

While the promo has been out there for quite some time now, today we got our hands on the first official trailer for Dario Argento's Giallo, which ironically enough doesn't look much like a "giallo" film. Taking place in Italy, the trailer follows an American woman who fears her sister may have been kidnapped. Inspector Enzo Avolfi fears it’s worse. They team up to rescue her from a sadistic killer known only as Yellow. Elsa Pataky, Adrien Brody and Emmanuelle Seigner all star. The film will premiere at Frightfest UK this August.

Looks promising... in a way. Hope it will be at least decent.

Kind of regular, isn't it?

Idk, modern Argento just doesn't have the same feel to it that you grow accustomed to watching all his old stuff. I just can't get into it as much, but it still looks alright and I'll definitely see it!

Actually looks pretty good, if not up there with his old stuff. At the very least it looks more "Argento-ish" than The Card Player.

Personally, it reminded me at times of Argento's classic Opera and a bit of Stendalh's Syndrome. I'm looking forward to it. Argento for all his faults is still the master of horror for my generation!

Argento has grown as an artist. Of course nothing new looks like his old stuff. But that looks promising.

I just love that after all these years he is still cranking out the gore. He gets extra points from me for staying power.

Looks great! Can't wait to see this one. Dario Argento is one of the best in my book.

I love Argento, but the man hasn't made a GREAT film in decades. This looks like it's along the lines of Sleepless and Do You Like Hitchcock. Not terrible films but not remotely his best work.

I hear Dario hated this one, as he was a 'director for hire' when he made it. Must have needed the money.

KittieZombie...there's already a DEMONS 3! Anyways, his films all look a like so Im not excited about this one but I'll see it.

Looks direct-to-video, sadly - what HAPPENED to you, Dario? Where's the lovely film-level quality of SUSPIRIA?

I'm not sure, I think Argento is such a filmmaker of the 70s and 80s that anything he's made afterwards just seems stale, but I'll give this a try.

Rental...if that. Too many of the films tend to be predictable.

After the abysmal Mother of Tears, Do You Like Hitchcock?, and The Card Player there really is nowhere left to go but up for Argento. With that said, I'm still not holding out much hope for this one. Argento just can't seem to get past his fetish of killing attractive, but supremely untalented, actresses inside really hokey thriller plots. Someone wrote that he's still growing as an artist -- really? It seems to me he's still stuck in the 80's.

I'll watch out of curiosity more than anything
