Production Weekly is reporting that the remake of Troma's cult classic Mother's Day starts filming August 24th in Winnipeg, Canada and is scheduled to wrap October 9th. Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II-IV, Repo!) is getting behind the camera from a screenplay by up-and-coming writer Scott Millam. The original "Mother's Day" revolved around three female friends who, while camping, run afoul of two brothers who engage in murder and rape to impress their deranged mother. The remake sees the villainous family return to the house where they grew up and terrorize the new owners and their guests.
The original is on of my favorites from TROMA. It's a campy, violent cult classic. I hope they don't tweak this too much. I like the original camping story, not sure about the home invasion angle, but I will definately give this a shot.
I like Bousman so I'm intrigued to see what he does with this. The original Mother's Day is cheesy but kind of fun. If you're going to remake something, this is a good candidate unlike remaking films that should be left alone. Hello, Platinum Dunces! I'm talking to you, bitches!
Omg. Enough already with the remakes for crying out loud. I like remakes but this is just getting out of hand i might see this one but make up something original.
How about a movie called Stepfathers Day....it could be a remake of BOTH originals and be filmed Grindhouse style....shit, even Rob and Eli could do remakes of their fake trailers..
The few troma movies that are actually good probablly could never withstand being remade. Course I am sick of remakes, but if they wanted a mom movie why couldnt it be I dismember mama?
hey hey hey everyone needs more hillbilly rape...squeal like a pig boy...sweeee lol and the fact they are doin it to impress their mother makes me go...wow...never saw the original but since its troma it probably has a fun side to it like poultrygeist..toxic avenger and redneck zombies...ill be shocked if it goes to theaters though...last 2nd dvd release..i can see it now.
I've never seen the original but I think Bousman could do something impressive or atleast fun with this. I don't like much that the dude has done, but REPO had some good moments and this seems right up his ally.
