Rooney Mara Signed on For 'Elm Street' Sequel

New Line Cinema's A Nightmare on Elm Street reboot is currently lensing in Chicago, IL and Bloody-Disgusting was on hand to witness the filming first-hand. While on set we had the chance to talk with the lovely Rooney Mara who revealed exclusively to B-D that she is in fact signed on for TWO movies as your new Nancy Thompson. Obviously, how well the first film performs dictates whether or a not a sequel will be developed, but assuming this is as sucessful as Platinum Dunes' Friday the 13th, I think it's safe to say we'll be seeing Rooney vs Freddy Krueger round 2.

I'm not digging her right now, I'll wait for the movie to come out... But she looks good, let's wait for her interpretation!

Yeah, hanging for some new pics or some real news. I like the look of this actress. Finally a lead that doesn't appear to have been stripped from a centerfold... just like our original Nancy!

at least I'm happy to see that if the movie works (let's hope it doesn't suck -_-) Nancy won't just go away and then die in her comeback. she'll be there in the second.

gerantgerant, exactly! i think they learned from casting the entire cast with MODELS for the FRIDAY reboot. i'm not much of a FREDDY/ELM ST. fan (the 1st one was good and part 3 was decent but that's it for me) but i'm open to this movie! i hope it's at least good, if not great.

I guess "Elm St." will be the next buzzworthy movie to get hype over once H2 is released & the excitement is over.

I think they're being a tad over confident here. Give us some set pics please but I do like that Nancy isn't some bimbo airhead

They better have some stellar rewrites, acting and directing, cause if it's anything like the first draft, it's going to be bad. I always held the NOES series to a higher standard than Ft13, because NOES was never just another slasher. There was actually some cool little imaginative things going on, and the fact that a majority of the teens to fall under Freddy's bladed wrath were not really the typical slasher fair(NOES kids were actually pretty likable, good and sympathetic). They weren't super sex crazy, totally baked keg monsters that are totally obnoxious and unlikable.

This is good news. Mostly that they will make a 2nd (even though, if it does well, its obvious they will do a sequel after all this is a reboot). I would like to see some more pics but at the same time i don't want to see too much, now that i think if it i shouldn't have looked at Freddy's pre-burned look because thats too much of a spoiler for me. I want to see some of the cast... something?

Of course there will be a sequel. And Jackie will be an incredible Freddy. I think he will put a spin on the character Robert Englund would never conceive. Yeah, I know that is BIG talk, but the acting chops are on a different level. I'll wait and see it and apologize if I'm wrong on this one. But I'm thinking it will be "Told you so".

yeah i agree, why did they give it away already that she would be in a sequel. that sucks giving away something like that this early. you dont give information out like that until you have recieved your box office scoring for the opening weekend and sees what it does. thats when they mention something like that. well isnt it obvious though that nancy was gonna survive so its like we didnt know this already. still you know. im so glad katie cassidy is in this too and dude would i love to get in her pants and work her engine over. lol

All you people who are saying "Thanks Now I know Freddy or Nancy don't die why see it now" ARE STUPID.

I'd love to know Heather Langenkamp's thoughts on this as she is playing her character. She could be great but her goth character in the PD scripts I've heard about sound poor and pointless. We could all end up hoping she'll die.
