Neve Campbell Effs Up New 'Scream' Trilogy Plans?

Neve Campbell, who played Sidney Prescott ("Sid") in the first three Scream films, has thrown a kink in the wheel of the forthcoming new trilogy. Writer Kevin Williamson updated his Twitter account with some disheartening news. "Trying to figure out a Sid-less scenario. She won't do it. This sucks," he writes. While Neve was offered a cameo role, the new story was to follow a group of new teenagers. If Williamson's plan was to have Sidney be the new killer, we're far ahead of you buddy. That's dumb anyways. Courteney Cox and David Arquette are both still said to be returning.

"Hi, this is Sidney, super bitch, who is this?"

What? All she wants to do is sappy art-romance movies... She would've been the saving grace of this idea, now its going to be the "American Pie - Band Camp" of the horror world.

Williamson should just leave the idea of rebooting Scream alone. Honestly he was lucky to get 2 sequels when he did. Scream really should have been a stand alone film, w/o any sequels. The reason Scream was such a hit was because it was the only movie to target the slasher genre's mishaps/ shortcomings while still actually adding a new hip spin on the genre; with killers that openly spoke to their victims & ran/fall while in pursuit. Plus at that time the slasher movement had fizzled off. Right now it's still all bout Torture Porn movies. This is why I Think both Halloween & Friday the 13th missed their mark. Both these reboots were missing excess blood/gore; which is what you know your going to get the w/ Saw or Hostel franchises. I think that's why many not all fans, prefered The Texas Chainsaw reboot. TCM, was able in my opinion, to combine the aspects of traditional slasher with the torture, blood & gore of the newwave 'gorno'. Bottomline I'm not sure it's the right time for Scream's reboot!

Here Kevin, I'll be nice and give you some help: Sidney has lived an effed up life since we last saw her in Scream 3, so much so that she kills herself. One year later, people start dying again. Is it the father who's finally snapped? Or is it her boyfriend, who's pissed at the world and what it did to her. Or... Is it Courtney Cox who's suffered from a turn of events over the last 10 years, many feeling her books causing their relationship to sour again to the point Courtney's cash-cow dried up to the point where maybe Sidney didn't kill herself at all... Maybe she was murdered, Courtney "stumbling" upon evidence a year later suggesting so that spurs a renewed interest, which of course, spurs more deaths. The biggest problem is there haven't been any good slasher flicks in the last 10 or so years to riff on. Good luck Kevin...

P.S. Scream 2 + 3, much like Matrix 2 + 3, are the only sequels I've seen that have actually lowered my opinion of the original when viewing them as a body of work. Pretty hard to do, too... But yes, it should have been a stand alone film. Having the original two guys subsequently viewed as nothing more than "pawns" in the later films diminished them.

How could it be hard to do a totally unrelated story without Neve? Seriously, if it's all characters then why the fuck care? Oh, cause SHE was going to be the killer? That's fucking retarded anyway and no fan would've loved that twist.

Awe come on, this sucks ass. Oh well she was probably going to get killed off in the first fifteen anyways. But still. :-(

What a bitch, I mean Scream is the only reason anybody talks about her and remembers her lame ass. Do yourself a favor Neve and come back to horror.

Move on without her! Her story was told and completed in three films. No need to include her.
