Update: You'll Never Guess Who is in Close Talks For 'Predators'

We just got a really, really hot tip from a 100% reliable source (who tips us off regularly) that 20th Century Fox is in close talks to lock in a director for Predators, their remake/prequel of Predator being produced by Robert Rodriguez and his Trouble Maker Studios. Who is it? Descend on inside and find out! In the reboot a team of commandoes face down a mysterious race of vicious monsters.

I'm sure the boys over at Aint it Cool News can confirm this (and then they did) with Rodriguez when it's official, but Bloody-Disgusting is being told that NEIL MARSHALL is close to signing on to direct PREDATORS for 20th Century Fox. To be clear, the deal is NOT SIGNED just yet, but getting closer.

Hurray!

Neil Marshall directed one of the best horror films this decade, The Descent, along with Doomsday and popular Dog Soldiers.

20th Century Fox has this on fast track for release on July 9, 2010.

the news that this was more of a sequel eased me up a little, now this, I must say this may turn out to be awesome!

I love 'The Decent'& 'Dog soldiers'. The latter owes a fair bit to 'Predator' anyway, and Neil Marshall is one of the best new genre directors out there. He's a great choice to revitalize this franchise, which started very well with a sci-fi action classic, and was followed up with a pretty good sequel. Unfortunately, we had to put up with a long hiatus, and then those crappy 'AVP' flicks. Marshall is the man for the job, no doubt about it. I hated 'Doomsday' though! But I can let him off for one fuck up.

Fantastic! Hope this proves to be true. I personally love all the man's work.

if this is true and he ends up doing it, then this will indeed be the best "remake/sequel/reboot" or whatever the fuck it is, in history.

I just want a good predator film again..the 1st one was by far the best while 2 had some cool weapons but jees that film lagged and sucked something fierce!

Fantastic news! I've enjoyed all three of Neil Marshall's movies. The Descent in particular is a modern classic.

My screenwriting teacher and one of my production teachers at university know Marshall very well and this appointment is going to work very well.

Remake/Prequel? God damnit, get it straight: it's a sequel! It's Predator 3, but because it's been so long since Predator 2, they're not tacking the number onto it. Motherfucker, that's annoying. Predators = SEQUEL, untitled new Alien film = PREQUEL.
