it was announced quite some time ago that a remake to the classic '86 metal-horror movie Trick or Treat was in the works. A reader over at Moviehole.net asked editor-in-chief Clint Morris to hit up Joel Soisson - the writer-producer of the original - to see what he knew about remake. You can see what he had to say by reading on. In the original, Sammi Curr was a famous, devil-worshiping rock star who died under mysterious circumstances. Now he wants to come back to life. Doing so requires possessing radio wave & automobiles and making a few human sacrifices. Ozzy Osbourne and Gene Simmons cameo.
“I'm amazed how many contacts, emails and letters I get from that movie. More than all my other films combined," Soisson tells the site "At the time we all wrote it off as a fun little confection that wouldn't be remembered past its first Halloween weekend. Strange business we're in. So yeah, I am actually kind of interested in a remake. Problem is, like Bill and Ted which we made around the same time for DeLaurentiis Entertainment group, the rights have been sold and resold from that now defunct company to the point it would take the FBI to puzzle it out. But your reader has inspired me to try. Something in the headbanger's eternal struggle still resonates."
So there you have it, Soisson’s looking into a remake! Now go pick this up on DVD now, it's a friggin' classic!
Great flick! Let's just hope they leave that homo-erotic locker room scene out. I'm not homophobic but I really don't care for seeing Skippy from Family Ties de-toweled! Oh, and please leave Gene $immon$ out of this one! I could totally see the almighty Alice Cooper in the dj role!

Ahhh the sounds of "Fastway", a glam metal band whose lead singer is now the front man for Flogging Molly...how times change. I remember seeing this as a kid, and oddly enough even till this day it still holds value.
Now this is one of the few horror films I think could benefit from a remake. I like the original, but I don't know that it was taken to it's full potential.
I think this could be good. As long as they stick with the old school metal bands! If they make the lead character an emo that has posters of Avenged Sevenfold in his bedroom, i'm not watching it!(A7X are not even a metal band anyways, but the media today considers it as metal). I just hope they will bring the 80s theme and feel to it.Sammi Curr rules!

They had Fast Eddie Clark from Motorhead on guitar. Hard rock, YES, Glam, NO WAY. Dave King was a great singer, is he really in Floggy Molly ???

I agree with slasher17. I was basically going to write the same thing... he beat me to it... It would be cool to hear some more old school metal tunes within the movie, bands like Priest, Megadeth, Anthrax, OLD Metallica, Slayer, Maiden, Crue, Mercyful Fate...etc. Actually it would probally be fucking kick ass to get different members from these bands to play cameo's as teachers or whatever.... kind of an ode to the old school.
Ok not to shit but A7X is not emo. Ok they may look it but their diff not. I do agree they have gonna pop since the lead singer almost lost his voice. But they are metal u have 2 listen to their old stuff from waken the fallen and sounding the seventh trumpet brutal stuff. But the lead singer poped a blood vessel and can't scream as good as he used 2. I do admit their more for the ladies now. But their diff not emo, now fall out boy that's I different story. Im sure u guys don't care but I figured ill info u anyway

Don't really see a point in remaking this movie. Part of the charm was that it was full of 80's cheese. Are there even machine shops in high school anymore? How is the plot even gonna work, does he download Sammi's last track or something, and how would it play backwards? Also, there are like 3 Rock radio stations left in the country, kind of a major thing to leave out of the movie as well.
