Halo-8 Entertainment has given Bloody-Disgusting the exclusive first look at the trailer for its upcoming 'illustrated film' Godkiller, written and directed by award-winning filmmaker Matt Pizzolo, illustrated by Anna Muckcracker, animated by Brian Giberson, and starring Danielle Harris (Halloween, H2), Lance Henriksen (Aliens, Pumpkinhead), Justin Pierre (singer of Motion City Soundtrack), Tiffany Shepis (Night of the Demons), Bill Moseley (TCM 2, The Devil's Rejects), Nicki Clyne ("Battlestar Gallactica"), Katie Nisa (Threat), Lydia Lunch (Hardcore), and Davey Havok (singer of A.F.I.). The first episode of GODKILLER is currently slated for a limited theatrical release followed by DVD on September 29, 2009.

Halo-8 plans to release GODKILLER in an innovative, serialized style that brings the episodic nature of comic books to DVD.

"We have this crazy idea to release the movie in short-form, episodic DVDs like a comic book, and then collect them into one feature length DVD--like when a comic book mini-series is collected into a graphic novel," Pizzolo explains in the Godkiller.tv blog. "The plan right now is to screen GODKILLER at some upcoming theatrical events we have planned that will tie in a few of our upcoming releases (notably POP SKULL and IN A SPIRAL STATE), show it at some really cool festivals if we can coordinate the dates right, and then release the short-form DVDs on this schedule: Episode 1 on 9/29/09, Episode 2 on 11/24/09, Episode 3 on 1/26/10... the most important thing is for us to get it to the fans as quickly as possible."

GODKILLER is the epic story of a boy on a quest to save his dying sister. Based on the comic book Pizzolo created with Muckcracker, GODKILLER takes place in a dark-future after economic collapse, after nuclear holy war, and after Earth is colonized by alien races. Tommy and his kid sister Lucy live in an orphanage in one of the few remaining city-states, but Lucy is critically ill and desperately in need of a new heart. Tommy's odyssey to find a new heart for his sister begins when he follows an organ-stealing prostitute named Halfpipe out of the city-state and into the savage borderland known as Outer City. GODKILLER mixes unforgiving brutality, quantum physics, conspiracy theory, and secret history for an iconoclastic hero's journey like none before it.

The 'illustrated film' Pizzolo, Muckcracker, and Giberson are creating for the adaption mixes elements of anime, radio drama, video games, and motion comics. Utilizing the original artwork from the comic book, the 'illustrated film' adds motion animation, visual effects, elaborate sound design, music, and voice-acting performances.

Pizzolo explained "when we decided to make an anime adaptation of the comic book, I couldn't see how a traditional animated approach would do justice to Anna's incredibly lush and detailed illustrations. It made perfect sense to adapt the medium to suit her art, rather than vice versa."

Looks pretty sweet. Did they really have to have Davey Havok in it though? Bleh.

I don't even care what it's about or who voices for it. That just looks incredible from a visual standpoint. I'll watch just for the art. literally like a comic book come to life!

Voice acting is pretty bland like they arent being motivated, just reading for a paycheck. Hate that animation style to where they try and overstylize it. Music and basic story sounds like a cheap ripoff of repo genetic opera which in its own sucked. Over all seems very bland and uninteresting.

Hey folks- Pizzolo here. Thanks for taking the time to check out the trailer. I just wanted to let you know the first two issues of the Godkiller comic book are online for free in the beta-version of Televandalism here: http://www.televandalism.com/index-godkiller.html if you want to check out more of the images & story (the full Televandalism site is launching soon & I'm not sure if they'll stay free, so check em out while they're there). Also you can check out a preview clip of a scene from Godkiller right now at www.godkiller.tv. We're still developing this 'illustrated film' format so all the feedback is appreciated.
