To go along with the second teaser trailer for Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza's REC 2, B-D reader 'Vepar' just sent us a link to watch three atmospheric clips from the sequel to the crazy scary Spanish horror film that took turns on a young TV reporter and her cameraman who cover the night shift at the local fire station and become 'quarantined' by the authorities. The group of people spend the duration of the film trying to escape, while infected resident continue to attack them. The sequel is said to really "jump the shark" and take things in a very different direction. The mind-blowing trailer says otherwise. Only four months until we find out, what you do you guys think so far?
Haven't gotten around to watching the first one yet. So what are the residents' infected with? Is it explained? I'm waiting for a movie where they find a cure at the end and everything's fine again.
It looks like there will be different cameras attached to the helmets of some sort of SWATs in action. Maybe an indicator to think that this movie will be in real time!
Not gonna watch these. Went into the original blind and loved it. The trailer for Quarantine gave away the best parts of the movie, there were no surprises, including the end (if u hadn't seen REC).
crow454, you don't have to worry, these 3 very brief clips (18 seconds each) don't spoil anything, they just show how the sequel will work. Just don't watch the teaser, it contains some spoilers.
I got worried watching the three clips thinking "Why the fuck do they run around in tight spaces with a camera in one hand?", but thankfully the trailer shows that the cameras are actually attached to the helmets. Nice development. Makes more more sense than the usual being-chased-by-god-knows-what-but-still-managing-to-use-a- video-camera malarkey.
@Dead_Scream watch Quarantine if you want a nice easy explanation. [rec] has a far more subtle way of explaining, which is easy to miss. No doubt we will get more info in this sequel.
gee i wonder what happens at the end of these clips? a jump scare maybe? not much for clips, but ig it's something. can't wait for Rec 2 and Quarantine 2!
...The causes of the infection are different in both versions, I liked the Spanish idea a lot better...Creepier... The Sequel seems a Lot like a survival game, but still, I'll think it will rock...

REC is just about the best horror movie I've seen in years in terms of being fun and scary (not straying off into comedy or heavy-handed depression-inducing drama.) Just something simple and terrifying. I loved it. It looks like the sequel is in good hands but I have to say the general concept is already less frightening. Military personnel with armor and guns seem a lot less vulnerable than a reporter who wandered into a very bad situation. But for now I'm going to hope they'll find effective ways of stripping away these new characters' defenses to create the vulnerability seen in the original.
Do NOT watch QUARANTINE if you want the plot of REC explained, dude - it's an entirely different explanation. SPOILER ALERT. In QUARANTINE, the sickness is explained as a genetically-mutated plague a la advanced rabies. In REC, the sickness is caused by a posessed little girl who's been held in the building by Vatican priest/scientist/exorcists looking for a cure for her demonic posession. Couldn't BE more different! I prefer the RECsplanation, myself!
