The "Muscles from Brussels", Jean-Claude Van Damme (Bloodsport) is taking the Steven Seagal route as he's planning on starring in a new horror film entitled The Breed, reports AITH. "This summer I will make a new movie with a famous director called WEAPON. After that I will make a horror movie called THE BREED. It's a great story, great script with true emotion. I want to show the fans I am transferable. I wanted to make a horror movie a few years back but the script was weak and had no direction," he tells the site. "BREED is different it's set in a village where strange things happen... You know, let the movie speak for itself!" We'll keep you posted if the movie ever happens as many Van Damme projects bite the dust before ever coming into fruition.

Clearly this is going to be the greatest horror film ever.

He should have been in the expendables with stallone, but i think horror could help him more than hurt him.

It's possible -- POSSIBLE -- that Van Damme could be heading in the right direction ever since "JCVD". From what I can tell, he's been making better decisions when it comes to the movies he's attaching himself to. I, for one, am looking forward to seeing "Universal Soldier 3".

no man, that's from Kickboxer. I love Van Damme, so I'm stoked.

Apparently in the mid nineties he was attached to a horror project called Nemesis, with a script by Richard Stanley and Sam Raimi on to direct. Wonder if that's the 'directionless' horror he was talking about? Unfortunately, much as I love the guy, his choices since the excellent JCVD have been piss poor. The Expendables could have thrust him back into theatres, instead he's chosen to make Universal Soldier 3. I was almost interested until I found out that it's being directed by the guy who made most of the straight to DVD shit Van Damme has wasted his talent on in the last few years. Reeks of one step forward, two steps back if you ask me.

Yeah he really should of taken that expendables role with stallone and others, seems like it would be an obvious good move for him.

Yeah I'm not to sure how I feel about this. I idolize Stallone, Schwarzenegger, and Van Damme in action movies the same way I idolize Freddy, Jason, and Michael in horror. I think I'd rather see him stick to action movies and it was a dumbass move for him to not take a role in The Expendables.

VD always makes me laugh especially when he thinks he sounds smart or descrptive. look at the way he describes the movie, "BREED is different it's set in a village where strange things happen..." ok, WTF?

He's working with a famous director named WEAPON? Are you kidding me with this shit. Also I will give him credit for I guess expanding his acting ability for JCVD. However that movie was awful beyond that I have never been so bored watching a movie in my life. Plus all these movies he is working on are still going straight to dvd Im sure.

I thought Cronenberg's film was called THE BROOOOOOOD - ???? Did they name the remake for that film The Breed? Im fucking confused.

JCVD was a brilliant film. His movies are normally decent, so why not try a horror film.I'll give it a watch,it can't be any worse than the grudge movies.
