The puppets are alive! Blood-Disgusting has learned that Full Moon has officially begun casting Puppetmaster: Axis of Evil, which is rumoured to be shooting in 3-D. The tenth installment in the Puppetmaster series -- Danny Coogan, a young man in the 1940s, uses killer puppets to fight America's enemies during World War Two. The feature will be produced by Charles Band with David DeCoteau (The Pit and the Pendulum, among 100 other films) getting behind the camera. August White wrote the screenplay. Shooting begins in China next month.

oh and if David DeCoteau is doing this, I bet one of the puppets takes of his cloths and runs around in his underwear. David is good about having semi male nudity in this movies.

the first couple were really fun and creative, and then it got really retarded. I think Feldman was in one, and thats where i draw the line! id like to see a remake of this because blade and the nazi tunnuler ruled. but for christ sakes i thought the 3D gimmick ran its course in the 80's, why the frick are people making audience's suffer with this crap again?

I have been waiting forever for a new PUPPET MASTER to be made! I hope its going to be made with as much quality and budget as the others! I just hope it won't be in 3D!!I don't know why, but 3D movies don't interest me that much...

Not surprised the remake fanboy arrives. Using the "Well the series got goofy, so they should remake" argument is retarded. Since the remakes recently are horrible versions of the original. The same people who made the sequels are pulling the strings with the remakes. But there not as involved with sequels, so they have better chances of being good. If remakes improved on the originals then your argument would make sense but remakes are usually just about as bad as the worst sequel. Or at least close. A good motto for the remake lovers is "Fool me once shame on you, continue to fool me because I'm a fcken idiot."

So it will be a sequel after all and not a remake? Excellent, should be fun...

Why not just remake the movie already. Hopefully this isnt another Puppetmaster vs. Demonic toys...

ttop33, get over it. remakes are going to continue for two reasons wether you like it or nor. #1. Due to the poor economy, studios won't take a gamble on an original horror film, they are going to stick with what people WANT TO SEE, remakes & sequels. #2. Old horror is, well, old! it's out-dated with sloppy editing, poor storytelling and over all shitty filmmaking at it's finest! Chainsaw, Friday, Amityville, Last House, Nightmare etc. All pieces of shit from a technical & storytelling aspect. I still love them all, but i'm not going to totally write off remakes because i'm so much of a horror homo that I can't stand the fact their remaking these so-called "classics"! I'll watch a remake with an OPEN MIND & then judge it on a film-to-film basis & not throw them in one big category.

mav07, the bit about old films having sloppy editing, poor storytelling and over all shitty filmmaking is not something solely tacked on to JUST older movies. A LOT of modern horror movies suffer from that stuff, as well. Just because we got on in our years doesn't mean everything from the past is bad in comparison to everything we have now, and that filmmakers are so much more better now in presenting a truly epic horror experience. We haven't come THAT far, man. It's all in one's perception of what is good. For instance, you might like a certain style and think it's a natural evolution of cinema, while I might think it's really half ass. I'm not a real fan of shakey camera syndrome, though I'm aware of those who believe it presents a hectic emotion, giving the impression the scenes that feature such work are frantic. I think it's shit. Though, that all being said, the Puppet Master series was never one of the more deeper horror franchises out there...hehehe...

Well, atleast it's not a remake. Are they going for RealD 3D? If so, they're probably planning on a theatrical release.

The first five films were great, but after that they sucked. Hopefully they go back to the quality of the originals. Someone mentioned box-set? I'm one of the few lucky ones that bought the limited edition Puppet Master DVD complete box-set on eBay. It cost a pretty penny, but it was worth it!

Has anyone even realized the fact that this movie SHOULD be a remake!!! how the fuck can you expect to make a 10th sequel to make any sense to anyone who dont know anything about this franchise. to have a 10 as the big motion picture makes no sense and the stories has become so bad even worse than jason takes Manhattan. your going to have to ignore the previous movies for this to be any good. the first 3 were good the the whole toy vs demon thing really sucked as and then 6-8 made me wanna blow my fucking brains out. Puppet master was one of my first favorite horror movies and #2 is my fave cause torch kicks ass. Also 3d would be WAY better. what kind of fucknut thinks that tunnler coming out of the screen would be in any way lame. anyone who thinks that is a fucking douche!

PEOPLE!! PUPPET MASTER: AXIS OF EVIL WILL NOT BE A REMAKE! The film is going to take place AFTER PM3! Puppet Master 3 was the best! I can't wait for this sequel!

Horror Writer
1:05pm, May 23, 2009

That's utter rubbish, Truhorrur. Why does it have to be a remake coz no one else has seen the previous films? If people are bothered go seek the others out, Charles Band has done a boxset for entirely that reason. This industry needs to stop catering to non-fans and instead focus on its target market. And a new movie doesn't have to reference all the previous ones anyway, it can be a stand-alone story, just like the first one was, it doesn't have to be a remake. That's just lazy filmmaking, there are plenty of ways ro reinvent a franchise without remakes!

mav07

horror writer, filmmaking is a business. and the studio's are looking at the bigger picture. for whatever series it is, they want it to last FOREVER, and for a series like puppetmaster that not many people know about. it would be stupid to make another sequal. their target audience is NOT old horror fans, its the younger audience. new blood, so to speak. it's not horror, but take Superman Returns for example. that series is dead in the water because they made a sequel, when it should have been a remake for younger audiences.

"that series is dead in the water because they made a sequel, when it should have been a remake for younger audiences." -- I'd argue that all any potential new audience needs is a story that hooks them. For example, nobody needed to have seen 40 years of 'Doctor Who' in order to enjoy the 2005 relaunch of the TV series. I haven't seen any of the 'Puppetmaster' films, but I don't see why a new film couldn't be written that would hook me in as a potential new fan without trodding on the toes of earlier entries in the series and alienating long-term fans. Films and TV series don't *have* to be remade or reimagimacated, they just need to have a damned good story to tell without feeling the fanboyish need to saddle a new audience with decades of unnecessary baggage.

Horror Writer

Sorry but I disagree, mav07. What do you think Halloween H20 did? It took a tired and fleding franchise and resurrected it... on the seventh movie! So anything's possible. I'm well aware it's a business, and like any business all it takes is a little imagination. Remakes are just a current fad, how do you think franchises were kept alive before remakes became 'the thing?' Remakes are just lazy filmmaking, period! And using excuses such as 'their target audience is NOT old horror fans, its the younger audience' is lame as those younger fans will be older soon so every age should be catered for.
