Update: IFC Films has acquired the film for US distribution and promises to keep the film intact! One of our most popular stories this week has been that the explicit sexual gore in Lars von Trier's Antichrist has been causing quite a stir at Cannes. With positive and negative reviews hitting the web, the hype surrounding this horror film - that's based on the theory that it was Satan, not God, who created the world - is off the charts. While you've already seen the trailer, now you can chew on three clips beyond the break. What do you guys think? Will this be a home run for us horror fans?
I really want to like this movie, but I have the feeling that it is going to let me down. This movie is going to be all creepy sounds and words without any true substance, I think.
It's Lars von Trier, so don't expect it to play out like a traditional horror movie. One of the "laws" of his Dogma 90 cinematic style is that a film must not adhere to any one genre.
Unfortunately, it seems that another of the laws is that a film must be annoyingly abstract and ultimately disappointing, so I'm not expecting much from it...
I didn't want any spoilers but i read news on this site that gave me a few spoilers on what happens in the movie that made people so upset... so I'm going to watch the clips anyway...

This inviting cinema with character portrayals reflective of the average person in this world is a magnet for a person like me who really enjoys seeing how other people deal with uncommon situations.
