The LA Times recently spoke with Dan Aykroyd who has a trio of updates for the forthcoming Ghostbusters 3, which has been in Columbia Pictures' pipeline for quite some time now. Aykroyd tells the Times that Sigourney Weaver has agreed to reprise her role as Dana Barrett, Peter Venkman's love interest. It was also revealed that shooting is slated to begin this winter and that Ivan Reitman will not be directing. Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and even Rick Moranis are all said to be returning in the film scripted by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, which will bring a whole new group of Ghost Busters into the fold (including some females this time around). But don't get too excited just yet as Aykroyd states that "at any second everything could blow up." Click the link for the full story or read on to enjoy the montage scenes from both films.

WOW !!! They are all coming back , including Sigourney. Hell Yes!!!!! Fuck, I hope it doesn't "blow up" as Akroyd puts it.

Till its a official announcement and shooting begins this is just another rumor. Personally I hope it blows up, a new ghostbusters would be cool but at the same time it would be watered down and full of CG effects with nothing that made the original special in this day and age of safe, stupid, effect filled, hollywoodized bullshit films. Besides the hype would be so huge that it would probablly dissapoint everyone and I dont want to hear them bitching about stupid nonsense.

Atleast it can't be worse than Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull... Although I don't think I could bare to HAVE to watch all of my childhood heroes raped in front of my poor, heartbroken eyes. It was bad enough to see George Lucas and Steven Spielberg rape Indiana.

I'm loving the return of The Ghostbusters, between the release of the cartoon Real Ghostbusters to the game coming out in June and then to part 3, Ghostbusters is making a huge comeback and I'm psyched!

They better make smart choices for their new Ghostbusters. Paul Walker, Josh Hartnett, Tay Diggs, and Steve Zahn would be my picks. I swear, if I see the Apatow pack as the new Ghostbusters...

And I forgot about the Blu-ray release as well!

It would suck if Apatow was chosen to direct and his gang of usual suspects were cast. Urgh !

Alyssa Milano and Eliza Dushku as Ghostbusters? Is Dan Aykroyd out of his fucking mind?!

This could be great, as long as they don't fuck it up with most modern movies. Keep it to the spirit of the first two. Don't suddenly inject all these shit and masturbation jokes just for tasteless humor. That's what I hated about Transformers. Keep it simple, to the point, and timeless. For the new Ghostbusters, hearing they might have a female this time makes me think back to Extreme Ghostbusters, but it could work. As long as they don't pick the Apatow stock actors. Others have mentioned it, and I agree. I don't wanna see Seth Rogen or Jonah Hill.

My roommate is elated. This is excellent news. We have high hopes not only for the movie.. but the game as well. Yay!

I still cant believe they are actually making a sequel instead of a remake. But I'll be on edge until this thing actually starts shooting. It just seems too good to be true...

Jonah Hill? Seth Rogan? Michael Cera? Doesn't this movie have a big enough cast without a bunch of "new" Ghostbusters?
