Myriad Pictures and RKO Pictures’ genre division, The Roseblood Movie Company, announce they are co-financing and producing a film based on an original screenplay by Bret Easton Ellis. The currently untitled project is scheduled to begin shooting in late summer 2009 and is to be directed by Brad Furman. The script tells the story of an awkward social outcast who, after being humiliated by a group of peers, exacts revenge by taking them hostage, with dire consequences. Ellis is best known for his edgy perspective on the lives of disaffected youth in such novels and screenplays as AMERICAN PSYCHO, LESS THAN ZERO and THE RULES OF ATTRACTION. Furman directed THE TAKE and is set to direct VALET for Alcon Entertainment.

If the world is in short supply of anything, it's books and scripts written by Bret Easton Ellis. Now, if only someone would remake Less Than Zero into a movie that could be just as soul sucking as the source material. The Informers was okay, not that anyone else saw it. Let's hope if this movie gets made, it's ads actually get some exposure so people know to seek it out.

Liked The Informers, American Psycho. Rules of Attraction was ok and haven't seen Less Then Zero. I am curious to see how an original screenplay turns out.

My thoughts EXACTLY magnoliafreak6. I actually really enjoyed the informers movie though. Please please please let some fans of the novel direct Less Than Zero, too.. The original is god fucking awful. Stoked on this project!

I love The Rules of Attraction, American Psycho and The Informers (I was one of the 5 ppl that saw it and I loved it...can't stop thinking about it.). Can't wait to see more by B.E.E.

I have to say that I like all the movies better than the books. That's never the case. The Informers was one of the worst books I've ever read. I can't believe they made it into a movie.

I'm actually reading American Psycho at the moment. The movie is at the top of my all-time favorites list and so far the book has been phenomenally fucking sick. I'm having an awesome time with it.
