Yesterday evening Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller updated his official blog with not only his first report from the set of A Nightmare on Elm Street, but also provided us all a first look at himself and producing partner Andrew Form on the set leaning up a against a police car from Springwood (a little homage to the first Friday the 13th tease). In the blog Fuller recounts his experience witnessing Jackie Earle Haley's first onscreen performance as the infamouns child killer, Freddy Krueger. New Line Cinema has slated their reboot for release on April 16, 2010.

Though I'm looking forward to this (from a remake perspective that is) I certainly hope they haven't changed Freddy from a child killer to a child molester because that would ruin the character. By the way, they say that this is a "remake" but wasn't "A New Nightmare" a remake in it's own way?

Let's just hope that this one is a nice companion piece to the original, as was PD's Texas Chain Saw redo. It certainly can't be any less impressive than the later entries in the original series, can it?

I think they made a great choice with casting Jackie Earle Haley as freddy as he's one of the only guys i could imagine pulling off that character well. Looking foward to this a lot

New Nightmare was never a remake. I don't know where people get that idea. In no way, shape or form does it even resemble a remake. It's more of a spinoff, taking place in the real world instead of the fictional series continuity, and revolved around the production staff of the NOES movies and Freddy crossing over into reality from movies.

I'm really looking forward to it. It doesn't matter to me if he's a child killer or a child molester. He will still be Freddy. This is more of a reboot than a remake, so it will be different. The only concern I have is that I have to wait till next year.

I don't care what he does to the child when he's alive, as long as he is dark and extremely fucking scary once he's dead and in their dreams. Freddy was my boogeyman growing up and I'd love for him to scare the shit out of me as an adult.

You got that right SukMyBoomStik.

Is that the new house from one of the original movies? Cause it looks like the one from four or five. Either way, totally stoked about this. Wasn't sure if anyone could fit Mr. Englund's shoes but I think they made a good choice.

Too bad the script is horrible. Haley will be the only good thing about this film. Brad Fuller just doesn't seem to get it. He says he wants to make a film that will scare us, but the script makes Freddy just a molester, and not a murderer. It makes the kids caricatures of teenagers, and it also has almost no suspense or creativity to it. If people thought that the Friday the 13th remake was plodding and hum-drum, well just wait until this comes out. It plays like One Tree Hill with some blood here and there.

This could be Great! Jackie Earl Haley,s Non-Joking Freddy Could Rule! LONG LIVE THE NEW KRUEGER!

Egg Man- That may be true but good performances, improvisations, and good direction can overcome a bad script. I would have thought the same thing you just said if I read the script for the original without ever seeing the finished product. I'm not saying this movie will definitely be great but I'm holding out hope.

On the other hand, the fact that this is from the people who did the Friday remake does worry me quite a bit...

i'm up for this movie. i'm not expecting very much gore or anything. Lord knows the FRIDAY reboot was as blood/goreless as you can get. i hope ELM is at least going to be suspenseful/tension filled. oh, and THIS IS THE EXACT SAME 1st PIC "POSE" THAT FULLER RELEASED FOR FRIDAY THE 13th (who i'm STILL pissed off at for over hyping FRIDAY, inventive/bloody kills my ass! and then the DVD which is basically BARE BONES...UNLESS you own a Blu Ray...)

ill definately be skipping this at the theaters..especially after this company seriously fucked up the friday the 13th remake..., these guys would probably do a good job if they made there own horror films as there wouldnt be as much hype over them to dissapoint big fans of the previous franchises...its just movies and i know that but i wont bother going to see this movie, even if it looks good..no thanks, i pass.

Has anyone noticed that the picture of the Springwood Police car is identical to the Picture of the Crystal Lake Police Car from Platinum Dunes Friday the 13th? Very cool! I can't wait for the new Freddy.

In the original film Freddy was a child molester/killer. It sounds like they may play up the fact this may or may not be true in the remake. It may just be a lie the children of Elm Street come up with which leads to Freddy's demise! I actually like that idea. I grew up with Nightmare, Halloween, and Friday and out of these remakes I have a feeling Nightmare will be the best. I didn't care for RZ Halloween and thought Friday the 13th felt like a series chapter rather than a remake!!! Come on Freddy, make this one a killer! :)

Hey DjBlack! Nice to see you here too. At least we don't have to worry about you know who here.

Apparently you guys didn't notice that in the article at the top of the page, Mr. Disgusting says the pic is a homage to the first Friday the 13th tease...

I really don't get you guys. You piss & moan if a remake sucks and complain how how it disappoints fans of the franchise...the original film is STILL there- it didn't get ruined in a fire or something. If you don't like someone's take on a movie then don't watch it again, simple as that. I for one will watch this...I'm a big fan of the series so any type of Freddy appearing again sparks my interest. I DO hope they stick with the Child Molester thing b/c I think that's a lot more dark & creepy. I just hope there's more background story to the reboot.

That police car looks stupid, it's not scary and I believe every aspect of this film should reflect Freddy's personality, and that car doesn't do it. just like the pictures of the school, this pic is a sure sign the movie is going to be terrible!!!!!!! *sarcasm*

Re: the police car... looks like a reject from the Robocop movies! Re: Haley as Freddy, how long do you think it's gonna be till we see a pic of him in make-up then!?

You so-called horror fans crack me up. You "hope" they don't make him a child molester? Go back and watch the first movie, dickheads. He was ALWAYS a child molester.
