We've got a little treat for you as B-D reader MyCatsNameMittens just sent us some behind-the-scenes photos from the set of A Nightmare on Elm Street, which is currently lensing in Chicago, IL. The photos that you'll find inside feature your first look at Elk Grove High School transformed into "Springwood High School". The films' premise centers on Freddy Krueger, a serial child molester murdered by angry parents, who returns with a burnt face and a razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams. New Line has the film slated for release on April 16 2010.

Am I alone in thinking that this location looks a bit lazy and boring?

That's a pretty huge judgement considering it's a photo take from a fan on the street with no production crew or set dressings yet. What you're looking at is a school that just had it's sign replaced. Jesus Christ....

It looks similar to the Springwood High of A Nightare on Elm Street 4. Again, I don't hate remakes, but either you go all out or don't do it at all. That F13 remake was so fucking tame. This movie better be good. It's annoying to hear how people love the source material, only to have them make a greatest hits version of the original. The TCM remake was so far their best one. At least that movie had some balls.

looks like a ordinary high school.....

Again, watch part 4 and the school here looks similar. The school changed from a traditional looking one in part 1 to a more modern one in part 4. Either way, pictures of a school isn't the issue. The issue is that if we will be entertained or not. And I'm really hoping they get this one right. But news of Goth Girl Nancy got me giving this project the side eye...

dimmu - Is it not meant to look like an ordinary high school?

Umm, I'm sorry, whoever wrote this article made a terrible, terrible mistake: "..on Freddy Krueger, a serial child molester murdered by angry parents." He was (or is) a child murderer, not a molestor! Cripes, don't put him in the league with Victor Salva.

cool, I like the school.

Actually, seymourcoffins, Fredy Krueger was originally a child molester but they decided to tone it down for commercial appeal. So whilst you're right in the fact that it's not mentioned in the movie, that was Craven's intention so people are correct in referring to him as one.

Wow, nice looking school. Bit smaller then I thought, maybe thats just the pic? I'm guessing so.

You misspelled 'Elm' in the title, Mr. Disgusting ;) Also, its still too early to make judgement calls. Yeah, it looks like an ordinary school, but would you really want it any other way?

Looks like a good school to use.

Horror Writer: Freddy was never a child molester. Wes thought about making him a child murderer/molester but changed him to a child killer BEFORE the movie was filmed. Therefore, he was never a damn molester. I don't mean any disrespect. This entire subject is just pissing me off. I don't know why PD want to change him to a molester. Also, the glove was designed to kill kids not to trim bushes! Damn it. Marge: "He was a filthy child murdered who killed at least twenty kids in the neighborhood." KEEP IT THAT WAY PD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I think he's right in thinking its lazy. At least in location scouting. I know the high school isn't suppose to be the eye candy in a horror movie. But you can still find a structurally interesting building. Get some bricks going in there or something. Replace high school with hospital and you've got two of your locations. Which I'm sure the useless hacks over at PD have already discovered.

This is one of them new schools. Whatever, doesn't really matter.

Not sure about it being a "huge judgement" about the movie, I just think that if a location scout came to me with this building I'd definitely ask for something a little more interesting...

To early to tell. Especially with no set design yet. Ummm, hopefully this won't disappoint. I have high hopes for this..

Why's it lazy? It's supposed to look like a normal school and it does. You want them to attend a fucking castle or something?

HORRORFAN4LIFE

why are some people complaining? It's a school LOL it's supposed to be plain.
