As usual, the news that hit the web the other day was not only inaccurate, but wasn't even confirmed. What we learned exclusively this morning is that Dark Sky Films is planning something special for their forthcoming release of Deadgirl, which premiered last September at the Toronto International Film Festival's "Midnight Madness." Directed by Marcel Sarmiento and Gadi Harel from a screenplay by horror fav Trent Haaga, Dark Sky will be putting the film in theaters July 24th as part of a "non-traditional event." What does that mean exactly? Watch this spot for more soon. Deadgirl is a horror/thriller about two teenagers who make a shocking discovery that not only threatens their friendship but also their lives. In a forgotten room of an abandoned asylum, they find a beautiful woman tied to a bed, and soon come to realize she is anything but dead.
If you enjoy films about fun-loving teenage boys repeatedly raping a girl chained to a table for 80 min, then this is the movie for you! Otherwise, avoid at all costs.
cosgrove, that's a little bit like saying jerry maguire is nothing but two hours of a football player asking to be shown the money. i saw this in toronto and was surprised at how much more there was to it. seek it out at all costs.
Somehow I doubt this will be playing anywhere near me.. (Ottawa)*sigh* I'll just have to wait for the DVD release.
And judging by the great reviews my friends gave it after seeing it at TIFF I'm going to say that Lionel Cosgrove is in the minority...
