Things are moving quickly as it appears Screen Gems has plenty of roommate options. The studio announced today that Minka Kelly has joined Leighton Meester to topline the Vertigo produced thriller The Roommate, being directed by Christian E. Christiansen. Aly Michalka and Matt Lanter (Sorority Row) also have joined the cast, which includes Cam Gigandet. Roommate is a psychological thriller about a deranged college freshman, Rebecca (Meester), who becomes dangerously obsessed with her new roommate, Sara (Kelly). Michalka will play an outgoing dormmate determined to give Sara a social life. Lanter will play Sara's ex-boyfriend. Gigandet will play her current boyfriend.

I thought that Leighton Meester was playing the role of Sara, not the role of the crazy roommate. But whatever, I'm excited for this movie. Sounds like Obsessed but it takes place at a college with college students.

"The CW Presents THE ROOMMATE" hahaa, a few more casting calls and they'll have the cast of Gossip Girl and 90210 littered all over this movie... Pass.
