This is interesting: a "reboot sequel." Rather than starting from scratch and remaking the original, they're saying, "Yeah, we know those AVP movies sucked royally, so here's a real sequel." So, it's a reboot in the sense that it ignores the sequels and does not have to maintain continuity with that mess of a plot, but it's still a sequel to the original. I like it. I wish they would do this more often. Candyman could be another good candidate for this type of reboot sequel. Or Alien, ignoring everything after part 2 (or maybe 3). Or Hellraiser, ignoring everything after 2. I hope this does well and starts a new trend to replace remakes.
