Bloody-Disgusting learned exclusively this afternoon that the great Clancy Brown (pictured inside) has been cast as "Allan" in New Line Cinema's reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street. He joins the previously announced Jackie Earle Haley, Kyle Gallner, Thomas Dekker, Rooney Mara, Kellan Lutz and Katie Cassidy in the film being helmed by commercial director Samuel Bayer. Brown can be seen in J.T. Petty's The Burrowers, which hit DVD just a few weeks ago, along with Starship Troopers, Pet Sematary II and Highlander. The films' premise centered on Krueger, a serial child molester murdered by angry parents, who returns with a burnt face and a razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams. Shooting begins in Chicago next week, with a release planned for April 16, 2010.
Man I hope that of all the remakes and so called revisions this is the one film the take care of and make sure they have the same kind of feeling of the first few Nightmare films.
Wow...I'm pretty surprised how much I am looking forward to this. I hate the idea of a Nightmare remake, but their casting has really piqued my interest. Haley could be amazing and I am a huge fan of Brown.
So far, much to my surprise, most everything about this seems rather promising. I wasn't digging the director, but I watched some of his stuff and think that it might be a cool fit. And I LOVE that Clancy Brown is in this. And I dare say that Jackie will be fantastic as Freddy. I'm just happy this isn't another Marcus Nispel flick.
Clancy Brown scared the shit out of me when I was young in Pet Sematary 2 as Gus.
I read the Nightmare script last night. The one that came out and January and it should be a great movie if they nail the effects down right. Alot of the scenes in the script sounded hard to put on screen and it got me wondering if they would CGi it up the asshole. Please don't. April 16..4 days before 420 hell yeah
Yes
I found the script on a post on the site IMDB (Internet Movie Database)
Here it is

DUDE!!! He was awesome on Carnival. I'm a huge fan of NOES. And honestly I'm think this maybe a great remake. I mean come on, They are starring to get some really talented people behind this movie.
Jackie Earle Haley is the Fucking man. Period. Clancy, is an outstanding actor with amazing range. He plays Mr. Krabs in sponge bob, and Brother Justin Crowe in Carnivāle. Who if you've never watched Carnivāle, who is an evil priest. And his Performance is stiller. Samuel Bayer Is Extremely talented. Coma white is amazing I really like a lot of his videos. Go Imdb it. I bet you will feel the same way.
I'm trying to not get pumped for this. But they are making it really hard not to.
This movie should never happen. Jackie Earle Haley is nothing compared to Robert Englund. This movie will bomb at the theaters and it will be their own fault for replacing Robert Englund, a man who is irreplaceable, as Freddy Krueger. They ruined this movie with their very first casting decision, that goes to show you how stupid they are.
myers23, I love Robert as freddy, and love the NOES flix, but if they're going to remake it, which as you may have noticed, they are, then it needs to NOT be the same thing over again. I think Haley can and will be something compared to Englund.
I can see this movie doing what the reboot of Friday the 13th did, it will be #1 at the Box office on opening week then the week after it will drop like 75% just like a lot of these films do because lets be honest we are all used to the original films and when we see these remakes and they are different we dont like change with the films we are used too.
Why does the description say Freddy was "a serial child molester"??????? If they've changed him from a child killer to a child molester I'm going to be so angry. There's nothing scarey about a child molester.
