Peter Jackson Toying With Nazi Zombie Idea?!

It's been a long, long time since Peter Jackson exclaimed that one day he'd return to the genre he started in. This afternoon a new story reports that actor/writer Stephen Fry was on British radio show "BBC Five Live" hosted by Simon Mayo where he revealed that Jackson is working on a Nazi zombie film?! Read on for the skinny.

"Apparently, there’s a currently standing, fully constructed set of Jerusalem in New Zealand," writes /Film, "It was built by “some strange billionaire” for a now aborted religious movie with a supposed Mel Gibson influence. Now the set lies dormant, several New Zealand film makers have been coming up with potential uses. Here’s Fry on one of them:

"Fran [Walsh], who is PJ’s wife and writes with him, they’ve come up with this idea called The Christ Must Die in which Nazi zombies go back in time to stop Jesus from being born."

Can you imagine Jackson heading back to his roots and bringing forth a film like Bad Taste or Dead Alive/Brain Dead with a budget?!

I just had a horrorgasm...

Sounds awesome. I wouldn't mind Jackson doing this. He has a lot on his plate though. I hope he can fit this in sooner rather than later.

This will never happen. Sounds like just an off hand idea Fran Walsh expressed.

That would be amazing if it happened, but I don't want to get my hopes up, cause it seems very unlikely.

It's hard not to get excited at the prospects of such an insanely cool concept in the hands of Jackson, but this is purely hearsay. Even if there's anything remotely concrete about this, it wouldn't come to fruition for years. Not to mention no studio in the universe would have the balls to finance it.

Isn't there already a Nazi zombie movie called "Dead Snow"?

My hopes are very low. Jackson started his career as a nobody, young, idealistic much lucas and spieldberg. So flash forward 20 years and here they are all making shitty high budget special effects movie targeted at the masses for mindless ticket sales. He has been in hollywood so long he has changed which should be obvious from that horrid pile of shit called king kong.

It's funny. With all the (well deserved) success Jackson has enjoyed, people forget to mention his roots. Despite the fact his early films would never be considered Oscar worthy, they are true masterpieces of the genre. Even Meet The Feebles was an absurd, yet hysterical piece of black comedy. This man is a revolutionary, and I hope history will shine brightly on everything he accomplished throughout his career in film.

"The Christ Must Die": in which Nazi zombies go back in time to stop Jesus from being born." BEST IDEA I'VE EVER HEARD! Peter Jackson's first 3 films are fuckin great! His career ended after that...my opinion!

Yeah it's probably never gonna happen. But, you never do know. With all of the remakes coming out the world needs a fresh idea. I can't think of a more original idea than nazi zombies going back in time to stop jesus from being born. Definitely a horrorgasm.

This sounds like an awesome idea. I would like to see Jackson go back to his roots, cause since Lord of the Rings and King Kong, he has made a name of himself and can make whatever kind of film he wishes. But I'm with everyone else, I'm just not sure how far this would go. Now if it was like the Nazi Zombie expantion map from Call of Duty: World at War, which I actually thought it was till I read the article, then it might get somewhere, cause you know Hollywood loves ideas like that and I actually wouldn't like seeing a film version of that cause it does have potential. Nevertheless, I would like to see this get developed.

AWSOME!!! ... 3 things any good horror film should contain NAZIS, ZOMBIES and Peter Jackson. Ill have to pull out DEAD ALIVE (Braindead), Meet The Feebels and Bad Taste again to get ready for the magic. Once again it will be way more superior than anything coming out of the United States film wise this year, THANK GOD for Europiean film makes.

Yes, everyone... Dead Snow had zombies travelling back in time to kill Jesus... and stop suggesting that Dead Snow is the first movie to use Nazi's in a zombie movie. I think the idea would be awesome with Jackson's over-the-top gore. I'd love to see him out-do Dead Alive!

I've been waiting so long for peter jackson to come back with the goods, and this is probably the best way possible.
