Last year it was Inside and Frontier(s), this year you'll be telling all of your friends about a French film by the name of Martyrs, a movie we've been pushing on you since last September. Now it's your turn to chime in as the Weinstein Company has finally put the film out on DVD (no Blu-ray, what gives?) in a store near you. Also arriving at a retailer tomorrow are Anchor Bay's While She Was Out, Paramount's remake of A Tale of Two Sisters known as The Uninvited, among many others. Read on for the full list.

EMPIRE OF PASSION: Criterion
With an arresting mix of eroticism and horror, Oshima plunges the viewer into a nightmarish tale of guilt and retribution in Empire of Passion (Ai no borei). Set in a Japanese village at the end of the nineteenth century, the film details the emotional and physical downfall of a married woman and her younger lover following their decision to murder her husband and dump his body in a well.

Together, Anna and her sister try to convince their father that his current fiancée is not who she pretends to be, and what should have been a happy family reunion becomes a lethal battle of wills between stepdaughters and stepmother.
A suburban housewife is forced to fend for herself when she becomes stranded in a desolate forest with four murderous thugs. What starts off as a quick trip to the mall ends in the woods with a fight for her life. All she has is a toolbox and her will to survive.
The US government must really restrict what you people see. I've owned this movie on DVD for a while now. And no, it isn't a torrent or rip. I guess Canadians get access to "subversive cinema" a little faster up here. Anyways, very entertaining film. Worth a watch to fans of all kinds of horror.
The Canadian release was a big error. The street date was changed but after the discs were shipped to retailers. Amazon.ca delivered to a bunch of copies my friends for one day only, then reset the website to the correct day and begain prebooking the film again. But, I know that tons of stores put the film out anyway.
The Uninvited wasn't scary in the least, so I can't for the life of me understand why the big horror push behind it, but as PG-13 thrillers go, it was time well spent. Check it out!
Yeah, The Uninvited really isn't a horror movie. A very good movie though. Much better acting than you might expect. Emily Browning has a bright future ahead of her. Can't wait to see her in Zack Snyder's Sucker Punch.
I bought the aforementioned movie and have Martyrs and While She Was Out from Netflix and rented 100 Feet from Movie Gallery.
100 Feet was good. Strange they didn't mention it though. But anyway definitely will see Martyrs and The Uninvited. While She Was Out maybe...
