We just confirmed a hot tip I received from one of my chums in Chicago (thanks CW!) that New Line Cinema is in final negotiations to cast their potential new Nancy Thompson for their reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Next to the casting of the new Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley), us horror fans have been sitting on the edge of our seat waiting to see who will take on the dream demon when the nightmare unfolds on April 16, 2010. Beyond the break you can check out our exclusive breaking news!
Bloody-Disgusting learned today that Rooney Mara (Urban Legends: Bloody Mary) is in final negotiations to star as the "average" teen protagonist in Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema and Platinum Dunes' remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, which begins lensing in Chicago early next month.
She will join the previously announced Jackie Earle Haley (Freddy Krueger), Kyle Gallner (Quentin) and Thomas Dekker (Jesse) in the film being helmed by music video director Samuel Bayer.
The films' premise centered on Krueger, a serial child molester murdered by angry parents, who returns with a burnt face and a razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams.
Here's a look at your potential new Nancy Thompson, what do you think? She's got that everyday hometown girl look if you ask me...
Pretty, small town girl next door look is down. Can she act?
I guess we'll have to ask the 4 people who have seen Urban Legends: Bloody Mary to find out. ;)
I like that the stars of this so far actually look like teens, and not a bunch of thirty year olds trying to play 16. I think that will make it more disturbing and scary, vs. going through the movie saying to yourself their thirty fuck Neve campbell.
