After basically being dumped into (less than 100 discount) theaters in a very Midnight Meat Train-esque fashion, Lionsgate is now prepping for the highly anticipated DVD release of the Platinum Dunes produced The Horsemen, which is slated to arrive at retailers on July 14th. While reviews are far and few between, there has been sme pretty positive buzz surrounding this release, and thankfull we won't have to wait too long to see it. Read on for the official release info.

Lionsgate is proud to announce the DVD release of Horsemen on July 14, 2009!

Four Horsemen. Four unrelated victims. Four painful secrets. Golden Globe® nominee Dennis Quaid (Far From Heaven) stars in the thrilling film Horsemen, as a recently widowed detective still grieving over his wife’s death who discovers a shocking connection between himself and the suspects in a serial killing spree linked to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Directed by Jonas Akerlund (Spun), a Grammy-award winning veteran video director, the film also features Golden Globe® nominee Ziyi Zhang (Memoirs of a Geisha), Emmy® nominee Clifton Collins Jr. (TV’s “Thief”), Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous) and Eric Balfour (TV’s “24”). The Horsemen DVD includes audio commentary with the director and director of photography as well as deleted scenes, and debuts this July from Lionsgate.

At home, hardened police detective Aidan Breslin (Quaid) has grown increasingly distant from his two young sons since the death of his wife. At work, he finds himself thrust into an investigation of perverse serial killings rooted in the Biblical prophecy of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: The White Horsemen, a master of deception and the unexpected leader hell-bent on conquest; The Red Horsemen, a sharp-witted warrior intent on turning man against man, with an innocence that hides a burning rage within; The Black Horsemen, a manipulative and dark tyrant, unbalanced but always one step ahead; and The Pale Horsemen, an executioner with disarming strength, determined to spread death through surgical precision. As Breslin grapples with each new revelation in the case, he slowly discovers a shocking connection between himself and the four suspects.
