UPDATE: Get Ready For TWO New 'Ju-On' Films This June!

If the rash of sequels and remakes weren't confusing enough, creator Takashi Shimizu has produced not one, but two brand new Ju-On (The Grudge) films for the feature's tenth anniversary! The most shocking part is that these films are slated for release on June 27th in Japan (I guess they're referring to this year, there's no other indication of next), with the official teaser trailer already available on the official website. You can read all about it beyond the break and check out the trailer there as well.

Update: Click here for plot details.

Twitch Film reports:

"Not counting the video game entry into the franchise - also coming as part of the anniversary - there are two new feature length installments in the works - both of which are due to release on June 27th. Ju-On: Shiroi Roujo - directed by Ryuta Miyake - and Ju-On: Kuroi Shoujo - directed by Mari Asato - are the new installments, both of them supervised by Shimizu and original producer Taka Ichise. A two-for-one teaser has arrived on the anniversary website, both of them creepy as hell, and both of them looking to mess about substantially with the series mythology while also incorporating certain key elements."

Click either title above for early one sheets and five stills from each film.

Check out the official website for more on both.

Good thing I know Japanese.

Well the first 2 were originally made for tv and did so well they turned them into full length movies. They differ quite a bit, but are still good (the original Ju-On has a much cooler ending). Judging by the quality, these look made for tv too. Probably just some half assed cheap sequels. Somebody's hard up for cash.

I can only pick up on a couple of the words. I'm horrible at Japanese.

Awesome! Some of the creeiest images I've seen from asian horror in the last couple years. Loved the face on the pregnant belly!

These look more like spin-offs then straight sequels. I'm not basing that off anything concrete, it's just that I don't see Kayako or Toshio anywhere in the trailers. I'm sad to hear Shimizu isn't directing, but I can't blame him for wanting to move on after 6 films (2 tv movies in Japan, 2 feature films in Japan, and the 2 American films.) I'd actually be interested in some new storylines (not revolving around Kayako and Toshio.) No matter what, it's sure to be better than the Grudge 3! Yeesh that was a stinker =P

And yes, I got to see the Grudge 3 early. I wish I hadn't wasted my time. It was like some generic brand version of the franchise that had most of the main ingredients but tasted like vomit.

Upshot is they arent more hollywoodized craptacular steaming turds sequels in this franchise. Yeah more sequels are just pointless now but atleast they wont have that watered down, teenager friendly, americanized stupid ending shit.
