Brian Collins writes in from a local horror convention where director Patrick Lussier confirms reports that Lionsgate has zero interest in making a sequel to My Bloody Valentine (review), their 3-D remake of the classic '80's film that hit theaters back in January. In addition, Lussier reveals that Axel Palmer (Kerr Smith) was the killer in the first draft of the screenplay and that ther will be 30 minutes of deleted scenes and an alternate ending on the forthcoming DVD/Blu-ray release arriving in stores on May 19.

this movie was good but i didnt like the whole secret window/high tension ending.

loved the movie, but I don't think it's the type that can spawn a franchise.

Yeah, I agree with the two posters above. Loved the film, but it's better as a stand-alone type of movie.

I don't think it's a surprise. Rarely do remakes have the "staying power" to create new franchises on their own. People always say, "they are rebooting the series", as in it's a hope to restart the franchise and make a new series out of it(particularly MBV, which was never a series at all).

I was a little letdown on this remake. I will stick to the original which is a classic slasher flick.

I'm indifferent about sequels but to say MBV was very successful and half decent I'm surprised they've bailed

Considering it is one of the most succesful and best reviewed horror films to come out in a long time its suprising there wont be a sequel. That's a good thing though, as others have said it is more of a stand alone film, just like the original.

I kinda of wanted to see where they'd go with the sequel, to be honest. The remake was fun.

Well, I now know who's not the killer.

I loved this movie, I really wanted to see a sequel. Just because Lionsgate has no interest in it doesn't mean that another studio won't...it was a surprise hit at the box office and the ending was perfect for a sequel. Lionsgate should be happy they actually had a hit for once...I thought they'd jump at the chance to do a sequel. Oh well. Glad to hear that the DVD is going to be loaded with special features!

Nightmare

They won't make a sequel to this awesome movie, but continue to beat a long time dead horse with the SAW sequels... THANKS LIONSGATE!!! ... Fuckin' assholes.

I agree with nightmare. Finally another property that is not name SAW is a sucess and lionsgate does not want to go ahead with a sequal to a truly fun film.theres been a lot of questionable decisions at LGF.I hope their not selling out like New Line did.

Have to say that I'm surprised. It did pretty well (over $50 million on a budget of $15M) and the sequel would do even better since the number of 3D screens would have grown exponentially. It easily would have done over $30M opening weekend...stupid, stupid decision by the once great but quickly falling Lionsgate. Will pick up the DVD though and look forward to the deleted scenes/alternate ending.

That sucks, loved the movie... it was really fun & totally edge of your seat. Anyways, can't wait for the DVD to be released!

This movie kicked ass! I hope the DVD release is in 3-D, though it probably won't be. Why is it the only one to release on DVD with the 3-D intact was Journey to the Center of the Earth? Everybody else gets shorted...

It´s REALLY sad that thing about no sequel... But I´m glad to hear about the bonus scenes and the alternate ending. But what about the cuts for the r-rating??? Will there be an unrated version????

That stinks. I was looking forward to seeing another movie with my Jensen. I woulda paid to see another 3D movie.

The movie is horrendous, no characters to root for. Jensen Ackles'a acting is disappointing. He was my reason to watch the movie, turned out Kerr is the one who is watchable. I thought F13 is horrid, turned out this MBV is worse, if anything at least F13 has eye candy hero ( Jared obviously better actor than Jensen), Panabaker and Righetti are more fun to watch than Jamie. Expendable sexy girs in F13 are sexier than full frontal nude girl in MBV. Yes, Lionsgate axe this crappy MBV.

Yeah, the big news here is not that their won't be a MBV sequel, but that, once again, LGF head Joe Drake is spitting in the face of the genre that made LGF into what it is. Nice work, Joe... hope you enjoy working for Icahn... for all of the five minutes you'll have a job once he takes over.

The movie was horrible. I, for one, am glad there will be no sequel. Now if they could just keep that mind frame with the 'SAW' franchise...*lol*

I could you love this film. Please for the love of horror movies, watch something "good" to desensitize your brain from garbage. This movie "sucked" and I am glad their is no sequel, I'm not quite sure what is worse a 3D death scene or death by hot dogs in the original.

I think the ending is perfect without a sequel. I love that Tom is out there in the world, unsure of what to do and just as scared as his victims. If you watch the ending, you get the whole tragedy thing from those last shots. What's Tom going to do now? What's his purpose? Where will he go? It's a sad, sad ending for him - not the ending of a "heroic" slasher like so many endings make these guys out to be "soooo awesome." Thanks for showing how sad and pathetic and small Tom's life has become by the end.

That is good news, the movie was worthless, pointless garbage.
