While yesterday we brought you the first ever images from Fox Home Entertainment's forthcoming Wrong Turn 3, we also had the chance to speak with director Declan O'Brien about the latest cannibal opus. This morning, we chatted with star Janet Montgomery, who plays Fonda in the film, a girl stuck between a group of prisoners and a slew of gross backwoods cannibals. Read on for a brand new image from the film and a bit from Montgomery about her role.
“I finished WRONG TURN 3 around September (2008). [My character Fonda] is very different from the The HILLS RUN RED character," she explains, "she’s very feisty and she’s a fun character to play – a tougher female role.”
The film features an interesting turn as it pits a group of prisoners against the cannibals. Montgomery explains how she ends up in the mix.
“I’m whitewater rafting with my friends and they get killed by Three Finger (Borislav Iliev)," she continues, "but I manage to...run into the forest and I escape, but then I come into contact with the prisoners, which some might say is a good thing." She continues, "But we find out it might not be the best thing at the same time - I’m a bit f*cked either way,” she jokes.
Director Declan O'Brien told us yesterday that there were a lot of action sequences in this sequel, which is how Janet gets all banged and bruised.
"It was so much fun to do, we did so much action stuff!," she exclaims with pure excitement. "I like to do as much of my own stunts as I can, as much as the director will let me. I have the same stunt girl as I had on HILLS RUNS RED, ‘cause she’s fantastic, so they used the same girl. I can talk to her about what I can do and she can teach me how to do it so I could do it myself. They were great fun to do." She tells us about one scene where she takes on star Tamer Hassen, “There’s one with me and Tamer Hassen (Chavez), he’s a big Turkish guy. I jump on his back and we have this fight scene. It was intense filming. I had bruises all over me afterwards, but it was so worth it because we got some great footage.”
As for the level of blood in the film, she couldn't reveal any of the gags but leaves us with this, “Yeah, I got some nasty cuts...it's pretty gory, to be honest!”
WRONG TURN 3 arrives on DVD and Blu-ray this Fall.
The first Wrong Turn was great. Very terrifying, original, and sadly underrated. Wrong Turn 2 was a great follow-up, though silly and over the top. Nothing but entertainment. Sounds like Wrong Turn 3 is taking the best of both films and rolling it into one. The plot sounds a little sketchy, but I'm still very excited for it. And by the way, what's with the spoliers? "I’m whitewater rafting with my friends and they get killed by Three Finger"?! I would've really preferred to have not learned that until I actually watched the movie.
ahhh...the female shows up and shes a hottie. nice! looking forward to this.
i have the first 2 on DVD. cant wait to see if im gonna own this one also.
i know this has nothing to do with this topic but i just read over at shock tillyou drop that drag me to hell is getting a PG-13 rating. looks like ill be watching it online instead of watching a watered down tame what maybe could have been a really maybe gory horror flick. im very dissapointed. bring on night of the demons remake and halloween 2.
Im thinking the white-water massacre will probably serve as the opening kill this time, since we know the majority will be the prisoners getting picked off one-by-one, leaving our survivor girl, and more than likely, a wrongly convicted prisoner to save the day, and escape the woods of west Virginia, alive...
That bitch is trying to rip off "Eliza Dushku" from the original. What cheapskates, they realised that the 2nd was one of the worst films ever made, so they try to copy the original character in a sequel. What cunts.
HA! @ billbeast. Have you not seen how many good reviews WT2 got? The only reason why they're making the third is because of the success of the second one.
I dnt care how critically praised the 2nd was, the first is the greatets movie ever made, the 2nd was jusrt a disgusting wannabe attempt. i still can't believe what a crap franchise this will turn out to be. Come up with some original ideas, i mean seriously, or do a bloody remake of another 80's film, stop doing sequels to my Wrong Turn. I'll do anything for them to stop making this film.
