While chatting with Declan O'Brien about his forthcoming direct-to-video effort Wrong Turn 3, he revealed exclusively to Bloody-Disgusting that he just optioned the rights to Roger Corman's classic The Little Shop of Horrors! “Actually its been a busy time for me. I just optioned Roger Corman’s 'The Little Shop of Horror', which Im setting up as a big studio remake," he tells B-D this morning. "We're in the process of talking to studios this week. It will be a remake of Roger’s original 1960’s movie. I don’t want to reveal too much, but it’s me, it’ll be dark," he explains. "It wont be a musical." In the original a clumsy young man nurtures a plant and discovers that it's a bloodthirsty plant, forcing him to kill to feed it.

ANOTHER REMAKE?!?!? This guy is on the untalented hack list now. Remake of a remake of a remake. Un-original bullshit.

I loved the musical and feel that was remake enough...I am so sick of the lack of imagination that is over running the industry. I know there are original ideas out there...but they just keep putting money into rehashing the same shit. Sorry I just had to vent!

kinda bummed this isn't gonna be a musical, but this could be neat with a NOTLD remake twist where barbra isn't a scared white girl, but instead a bad ass zombie killer, smae could be done with seymour...but it should definitly have tisha cambell in it in some way shape or form.

At least some posters have a brain. Im sure most will see this and then bitch how remakes are everywhere. Stop seeing them and they wont make them.

Never seen any of O'Brien's other movies but I hope he knows that Corman's original was a COMEDY and not a horror movie. Since so many more people are familiar with the stage musical and its movie adaptation than they are with the original Corman comedy (which was allegedly shot over a weekend). Most people will just be confused. I have an affection for the original but it's mostly just a dumb little cheapie dark comedy. "Reimagining" it sounds pretty forced. Kinda' like Rob Zombie remaking "Halloween" when he clearly never understood what made the original noteworthy. Who knows? - dark comedy is hard to pull off, but more power to O'Brien if he thinks he can.

It's not a remake of the remake, it's a remake of the original

it doesnt matter how the end result will be, who stars in it, who makes it, none of that matters it's the name brand that they are selling to the public and that name has already been famous and it's easier to sell tickets and dvds on that particular name...it's just business that's all it is, 9 out of 10 remakes are horrible mistakes and most likely this will join them as well, what ever happenned to the it's alive remake? lol.

Stephanie McMahon should be the main girl with her boobs out.

James Whale's FRANKESTEIN was a remake. Hitchock remade his own films! Remakes are a hollywood tradition that will never go away... so you can all stop crying about it. This could be really interesting if it were treated seriously.
