Elisabeth Shue to Star in 'Piranha' Remake?

A pretty interesting rumor just hit the web as it's being reported by Fearnet that the beautiful Elisabeth Shue - one of my favorite 80's chicks (Adventures in Babysitting, Back to the Future II, The Karate Kid, Cocktail) - is "a likely candidate" to star in Dimension Films' Piranha 3-D, their reboot of Joe Dante's classic film from 1978 being helmed by genre fav Alex Aja (Mirrors, Haunte Tension, The Hills Have Eyes). This is by no means "official" and should be taken strictly as rumor right now. Aiming for release on March 19, 2010 from Dimension Films, Aja's version takes us to Lake Havasu, Arizona, where a tremor causes the lake's floor to open, setting free scores of prehistoric piranhas...

I've always liked Elisabeth. She was great in Hollow Man, and if she is in this remake, then great news!

i really like (and have met..very nice woman) Elisabeth but this is NOT the right movie for her to be in. i am sure this is a bogus rumor. to be honest this movie (as effing excited i am for it. i LOVE Aja!) is very beneath her. and i say that with no disrespect meant towards PIRANHA 3D. BD what is your "source" on this rumor? and i stress RUMOR.

Always had the biggest crush on Elisabeth! She's still beautiful! I remember when she did those Burger King commercials back in the 80s! So cute!

It's about time BD stopped sucking up to these remakes. Practically every thread is about another pointless reboot. It's because of sites like this that these producers think people actually give a shit!

God I hope so! She is one of my all time favorite actresses and she rocked Hollow Man! If it would have been someone else that film wouldn't have been as good. They didn't give her much to work with in Hide and Seek which really was a dissapointment so I really hope this is true!

HorrorWriter lets face it, whether we like it or not the film exec's already know that teens eat these up. Plus, dont forget that in order to retain the licenses to these franchises they have to yank them out of the attic, dust 'em off, and put them back up on the big screen every few years.

She is a great choice with actual acting chops, it'd be great to see her in this. Oh and the opening seen from the original needs to stay intact, gotta leave that bit alone, classic.

Sounds like 'Horror Writer' didn't get his e-bottle today :) WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Suck it up and stop being such a big baby... Most of the remakes have been really good, maybe you should change your name to 'Horror Whiner" :)

Aja does good work, and has performed strongly with every film of his I have seen so far. But hey, Alex, we all loved Hight Tension so MUCH!!! Why you gotta be dooin' all these remakes? I'm glad your the one handling this, and I loved your Hills remake but make us another new classic when your done revamping this one, kay? Please?

I think Elisabeth is an underrated that has always had a wide spectrum of films. I think this would actually lift up Pirhana a notch. I really hope this is true. If you haven't seen Trigger Effect, I strongly recommend it.

Maybe the few who are opposed to this casting just can't forgive her for dumping Daniel-san in KARATE KID 2!

I love her, I too grow up with her movies they rock....I still have them on VHS. Anyway I hope this is better than Mirrors that was wack.

I dunno, I thought Mirrors had some great moments. It would be great to see a sequel that involved Kieffer being forced to exist in the mirror world.

HorrorWriter, I doubt that this site has much to do with producers thinking people "give a shit". It may have more to do with ticket sales. I know I do give a shit in this case and will go to see Mr. Aja's work anytime. I do hope that this is stronger than Mirrors. We'll see.

Shes perfect for that remake but i liked the original and i'm not sure if they can get much more out of the plot... I'm not against remakes but i'm not looking forward to this one, i might see it when it comes on HBO.

I have always been in love with Elizabeth Shue! I have all of her movies and think she would do good in the Piranha remake. As much as I hate remakes/reboots/retellings if she is in it I'm there no matter how bad the movie sucks.

wow, her and I actually have quite a bit in common, everyday i get up and dance to that song, and put on a bad A 80's top and skirt... interesting

Elisabeth Shue is terrific! She deserves more praise than she has received but at least she got an Oscar nomination. Adventures in Babysitting is such a classic film that is just as enjoyable today as it was back then. Many people may not know that she also starred in another horror film called Link in the 80s about a psychotic monkey she must match wits against to survive! The director of that film previously did Psycho 2 and Road Games. It was pretty good. I will see this either way because I have enjoyed Aja's films. The Hills Have Eyes, High Tension, P2. He knows what he is doing.
