The Real 'Terror Train' Remake Boarding Soon?

While Lionsgate's Train was supposed to be a remake of Roger Spottiswoode's classic 1980 slasher flick Terror Train, it was later removed from the same conversation. It's been rumored that another company was working on an actual remake of the film, which starred Jamie Lee Curtis as one of six girls targeted on a train after a prank gone wrong years earlier. It looks as if the rumors were true, read on for details.

B-D reader Joey M. tipped us off to the official website for Freefall Films where they report that a remake of Terror Train is slated to begin filming in May of this year with Alex Wright tapped to direct.

Here's the synopsis they provided:

Amy and her friend Stephanie are set for the ultimate party weekend: a Halloween fraternity bash aboard a moving train. But when a costumed psychopath starts killing the passengers one by one, it's up to Amy to stop the murderer.

More news as it comes in, check out the trailer for the original below:

Can't wait for this one. The original is one of my favorite 80's slashers, and I'm interested to see how this remake turns out. I did read the script for 'Train', however, and I am completely glad that is not a remake anymore, because it was NOTHING like the original. It was more like Hostel: Part III, but set on a train.

this will end up being a watered down movie and turn out JUST AS BAD as the abomination PROM NIGHT. it seems most of the awesome Jamie Lee's remakes are atrocious (Prom Night, The Fog, etc). if they could make and R RATED horror movie/thriller w/ some gore then...awesome. but i don't see that happening.

Nobody knows what it's rated yet, and considering the same production company has a horror movie about snuff movies and torture (Shawnee Smith's "Slaughter") coming out, I doubt this will be PG-13. Plus, the head of the company worked on the 'NOES' series during his career...

If done with the right director who sticks to the original premise, this could be remade even better. I as well LOVE the original with Jamie Lee. I just watched this a couple weeks ago and it still holds up.

Loved Terror Train and think it's aperfect candidate for remaking. It was good, but not iconic: the story was generic but setting it on the rails in the winter allowed for great atmosphere and cinematography; abd instead of killing annoying illusionist David Copperfield now they can kill annoying illusionist Criss Angel!

ha, I'd rather see somebody take out David Blane on the big screen tszilla. That being said, I loved the original and agree that the setting and camera work really sold the film. Hopefully they don't forget this when they get on set.

I still to this day love the original Terror Train its one of my fave 80's slashers. I think it will do fine as a remake as well though.

The original was not about a killer targeting six girls - Jamie Lee and the character of Mitchy are the only females the killer is out to get. The rest of the pranksters marked for vengeance were all frat members.

Davegr, i was thinking the same thing when i read BD's synopsis. Alana (Jamie Lee) was one of 2 females. the rest of the targets were male. just sayin', BD.

never seen the original, but only liked 2 remakes.....correct me if i am wrong unless i am thinking of another movie, but didnt the late donald pleasance (original halloween ,2 4-6 and voice over the h20) star in this or am i thinking of another movie? dont know how this will live upt oo the original fi this is indeed true.

No it wasn't Donald Pleasance, it was actor Ben Johnson who starred in this. And glad someone corrected the above because it wasn't six girls. Jamie Lee Curtis and Sandee Currie (from the underrated 80s Canadian slasher Curtains which has yet to see an official region 1 DVD release) were the only main female leads. Curtains was the film about 6 six actresses trying to get a part in a new film as a hag-masked killer picks them off one by one. I highly recommend that to anyone who has yet to see it. The atmosphere, music, actors, story, killer and mystery are all terrific! It also has John Vernon (Killer Klowns), Samantha Eggar (The Brood), Lynne Griffin (Black Christmas) and Lesleh Donaldson (Happy Birthday to Me). What more could you ask for!

daysfan, absolutely! CURTAINS is AWESOME! the mask that the killer wears is SO freaking scary! great movie!

If you look around on EBay, you can snare a bootleg of Curtains on DVD, and very good quality. Not that I would ever do such a thing but I'm just sayin'!

Mitchy from the original was fucking HOT!!!! Wish they showed her naked but she did look wicked sexy dressed in that witch costume.

Mitchy isn't looking so sexy anymore, from what I've heard, the actress who played her, Sandee Currie, passed away in the 1990s. She was very pretty - aside from Curtains, check her out in Paramount's comedy Gas and the independent thriller Terimnal Choice.

I've been waiting for this for a while now. I hope it doesn't flop like April Fools day (terrible re-make) or be watered down and altered like Prom Night. This should be good I hope it ends up getting as much success as Friday the 13th, Halloween, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The other remakes were okay as far as remaking slasher films goes, Hills Have Eyes and My Bloody Valentine but I hope this gets more success because it's one of my favorites and had a great story. What was up with that movie "Train"? that was terrible. Anyone know anything about a Hell Night remake?

i swear to god if this is PG-13...
