The hottest script in Hollywood just got one of the hottest stars as insiders say that Christian Bale (American Psycho, Batman Begins, Terminator Salvation) has attached himself to The Prisoners, joining Mark Wahlberg (The Happening) on the thriller and making the package for Aaron Guzikowski's spec even more desirable. That follows word from Bryan Singer that he'd like to direct the pic, though there's no official confirmation from his reps yet that he's come on board, the Hollywood Reporter writes. After his 6-year-old daughter and her friend are kidnapped, a small-town carpenter butts heads with a young, brash detective in charge of the investigation. The father is a Bible-reading, deer-hunting survivalist. The cop, meanwhile, can’t wait to get to the city. Feeling failed by the law, the father captures the man he believes responsible and begins to torture him in a desperate attempt to find out what he did with the girls, whom he’s convinced are still alive.
The project is said to have echoes of "The Silence of the Lambs" and "Seven."
It's great that one of the best actors in Hollywood has the freedom to work in as many genres as Bale does. I hope he's with this project right up until the end. It sounds terrific for him.
Christian Bale is one of my favorite actors and he's been great in every movie I've seen him in. I also like the pairing of Bale and Wahlberg. Sounds like a cool premise too. I'm in. :)
I hope Bryan Singer and company are ok with being screamed and cursed at by Bale. I can't believe anyone would want to work with that dick, I could care less how talented he is, he's an asshole. Oh and FYI, regardless of how "great" Bale is, Heath Ledger made The Dark Knight great, not the almighty Bale.
Here's the thing. Bale may be a dick (I don't know if he is, but we all have bad days at work. So, he may have overreacted, but everyone does.) but he's a great actor, and one of the biggest names around. It doesn't matter if he's a diva or not, his name will guarantee a level of success, and that's all that matters.
Jerk or not Bale is a good actor. Walberg has had his moments. Who knows, this might be good. It would be nice to see some big names take on Horror. Get some people exposed to some films that they would otherwise say "I hate that kind of movie" to.
LOL thats the hottest script in hollywood LOL sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me. SOunds like every other cliche hollywood movie. But I like bale and walberg so we'll see.
Bale is a woman disguised as a man, Crying like a bitch in heat on the terminator set. I think his performance in Dark Night was dull, Heath Ledger made that movie and also the actor Aaron Eckhart's performance was second to heath's. And for Marky Mark, Max Payne and the Happening are going no where fast in the sales department. Those movies are jokes!
