'Final Destination' Takes on 'H2' This August

Let the game of chicken begin! New Line Cinema announced today an August 28th, 2009 release for Final Destination: Death Trip 3D, the fourth film in the Final Destination franchise. The two week bump pits the film against Dimension Films' H2, Rob Zombie's sequel to his own reboot of Halloween. Who will chicken out first, because we all know there's no way in hell two horror movies will open on the same day.

The Final Destination formula wore thin really quick but if the 3D is as good as My Bloody Valentine then it could be fun, especially with the accident thye have in this one that sounds promising. Didn't really like Zombie's Halloween soo not as bothered about H2

With the 3-D element, and the fact that the Final Destination films do surprisingly well at the box office, I think FD4 is going to rule the box office that weekend. I'm sure H2 is going to get moved next. Dimension wouldn't dare go up against Warner Brothers/New Line.

H2 is guaranteed to make a killing but FD also has a solid fan base based on 3 popular films and the new one has the added bonus of 3D. If the response to MBV 3D is anything to go by then horror fans are looking for that something extra and FD may just give H2 a run for its money.

Halloween should change it's date. Nothing says Halloween like augest!!! The worst part about the first Halloween was the marketing campaign. The release date was awfull, the poster sucked, the trailer sucked. Zombie needs to hire a new team, and stop putting so many images on your myspace. whatever happened to being surprised when you see the movie. He practically had the whole damn film on his myspace.

da tank, which one is trash?

H2 had the spot first, i don't know what the hell they were thinking putting FD4 against it. i personally think H2 is going to stay, unless they move it to an October date like originally announced. if they both keep the date, H2 will bank bigger, Myers has a bigger fan base than those horrible Final Destination movies.

He may have a bigegr fanbase but the last Halloween movie divided the fans big time, and unfortunately I'm one of the ones that didn't enjoy it. To be honest I think I'll wait for video for both

FD4 will definitely move. However, the only way it won't move is if Halloween is actually intended for an October release like originally stated and August was just a date they went by because of the first film.

FD4 gets my vote if not just for the 3D. i was so disappointed with the first Halloween to the point where i wanted to leave (to only stay and get the loomis shit dumped on me). i hope H2 will redeem robs take on it, i really do, but it probably wont.

Dimension may have a tough time against new line. (Their advertising camnpaign better be good seeing as we have been waiting for ages.) I am damn sure FD4 will top the box office when it comes out but two weeks is a long time. Rob's film will definately not go un-noticed. I am just going to say good luck to them both and i wish them many more sequels.

I think Halloween will be moved. Not because its a chicken, but because its a film that deserves to be released alone. I mean that would be some great competition but at the same time, both films need to make great money and being released on the same week will hurt them both.

Release HALLOWEEN 2 SOONER!!!

You're right da tank, one is trash, and it's called H2 ;). Rob Zombie movies suck. I'd have been excited if the INSIDE team was behind it still, but it's Zombie so it will be more of the same crap. They should just leave FINAL DESTINATION where it was at so they can take in more money before summer is over. The end of August would be a stupid release date for it. H2 should be moved to...never ;)... If these two movies actually did go up against each other FD would rightfully win. A lot of people hated Zombie's HALLOWEEN, and the FD movies continue to be crowd pleasers. Add in the fact that it's 3D and H2 would have its ass handed to it. If one were to chicken out it should be H2, but I think they'd be smart to move FD so they can get more money.

I'll see H2 before anything. Loved Rob's Halloween, so I'm sure H2 will be great and even better. Can't wait. As for FD4, not sure yet. I haven't been given much on it for me to be excited over, well, just besides it being in 3D. The pics do nothing for me. But of course, you never know until you see it.

Tough call.I'd say FD43D would run for the hills, but given Dimension's history of playing the shuffle game you never know.(Personaly,I'll watch H2 before anything!)

I will be seeing H2!!! I am just not that interested in seeing FD4. I think H2 will come out on top!!

I'll be seeing FD4. Halloween can wait. Or how about they move Halloween to... hmmm Halloween? They are the real chicken shits by releasing it in August.

WHEN ARE FILMMAKERS GOING TO GET OVER THE LAME 3-D GIMMICK? ITS NOT FUN, IT TAKES AWAY FROM THE STORY AND IT DIED WITH THE 80'S, STOP USING IT!!!

I like the pic from FD4. I hope to be able to see it in 3D.

I'll be seeing Halloween 2 as soon as it's released. Love Zombie's badass Halloween and this will kick ass too. I will wait for Final Destination to come out on dvd as I don't care that much about them.

Personnaly I am a big fan of both films, but if it comes down too it then I'll go see H2 over FD4. No offense to FD4, but I'm not a big 3D fan and most of the theaters around me don't do 3D so I would have to see the non-3D version, if they do a version like that, or not be able to see it at all, which was the problem with My Bloody Valentine. But I actually hope that if a studio moves their film, it's Dimension because I would like to see H2 get an October release like it should be. But only time will tell.
