When this weekend is said and done, most of you will be impressed with Dennis Iliadis' version of Wes Craven's The Last House on the Left. I am already looking forward to his next project, so it's pretty exciting to hear he'll be working with Vertigo Entertainment (The Strangers, The Grudge, The Ring) on a new thriller entitled Cure. Read on for the story.
"The Last House on the Left" helmer Dennis Iliadis has signed on to direct the thriller "Cure" for Michael London's Groundswell Prods.
The story centers on a young man who sends his wife for an experimental treatment to save her from a terminal illness. Although she returns completely cured, she is suddenly infected with something more terrifying.
"Max Payne" scribe Beau Michael Thorne wrote the screenplay.
Lensing is skedded to begin in the summer.
Vertigo Entertainment's Doug Davison and Roy Lee ("The Strangers") are producing alongside Brian Witten and Michael Connolly.
Connolly manages both Iliadis and Thorne and will produce via his Mad Hatter Entertainment banner. Witten most recently exec produced the remake of "Friday the 13th" for New Line/Paramount and will produce "Cure" via his Witten Pictures banner.
In addition to "Last House on the Left," Iliadis wrote, directed and produced the indie "Hardcore."

Dennis is a visionary director. This new project sounds promising. Can't wait. |
I concur Dan... My stomach actually dropped... There is no way that film can be remade... this one sounds cool though. |
