MTV took some time out of their regularly scheduled non-stop Twilight coverage to bring you a pretty interesting update from Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner regarding Ouija Board, their feature film movie based on the popular board game (is it really a game?). While there's still no director attached, Universal Pictures is developing this live-action film with the intent on it being a pretty hardcore horror flick. Read on for the skinny.
“Half of the people that play Ouija as a séance think it’s just a game,” said Goldner to MTV. “The other half thinks it’s much more serious than that. So that idea, is this real or is this just sort of imagined? Is this something that’s done by the participants or is this something that’s really from beyond?”
“Because of course breaking through to the other side is something we’re all kind of interested in,” he continued. “It’s such an intriguing idea, and that’s something we want to explore in this movie.”
The screenplay is currently being penned by David Berenbaum (The Haunted Mansion, Zoom, The Spiderwick Chronicles).
After this movie is ready, there are two possibilities:
1. The game won't sell anymore, because people will be afraid to buy.
2. The game will sell ALOT after the movie!
So, either it will break the game industry or it will improve their income hahhaa
Mmmmm... Tawny Kitaen... *drooling like Homer Simpson* Hated that movie even as a kid, but she was HOT. And MTV claiming they wanna do an extreme horror flick? That's kinda like Disney wanting to finance the Hellraiser remake. MTV is all about the teens, I smell another PG-13 kid-friendly crapfest.
So basically, they're giving us the low-tech version of White Noise? Just thinking about it makes me sleepy...
