Will 'Scream 4' Kick Off a New Trilogy?

While we've been breaking all sorts of news regarding Dimension Films' planned Scream 4, the boys over at Rope of Silicon have come across something pretty damn interesting. While we confirmed our report that Kevin Williamson would be returning to the franchise to script the fourth film, the website has gotten their hands on something even bigger. If you click here you'll find a little something, something that teases a possible new trilogy that would take the Scream franchise to six films. The website reports that the source is unconfirmed, so keep this marked as rumor until backed up. What do you guys think? A new trilogy?

I don't know if it's true, but if they can get a hot cast, create interesting characters, and run with a good story, then why not?

SCREAM 1 is one of my favorite movies of all times. Hope the new one will be much better than part 3.

It could work. I think Williamson and Craven are a dream team and if they can get the characters and scenario right then they should go for it.

I'm all for a new trilogy, the original ones were good especially the first one but they have become extremely dated. and not in a good way

Love it if they can keep a decent cast and storyline...but if our Scream sequels are gonna turn out like Feast or Pulse sequels than please don't...it'll just ruin a good franchise...

Maybe they'll drop the sacchrine teen melodrama this time.

I just didn't like the Scream movies. To me they focused more for teenagers and I didn't find it scary or gory. To me, it really didn't seem like horror.

ugh. more hollywood formula screenwriting software horror.

I think it's rather obvious this was going to happen after the announcement of part 4. If it can happen to anything from Star Wars to Saw, it can happen with Scream. With Kevin Williamson on board, and the possibility of getting Wes Craven back, if their hearts are in it this could actually kick serious ass.

These movies are all thats wrong with horror, they were not scary, suspenseful or worth my time. So this would be awful. What really saddens me is, there are people who think these movies are true horror films and that they are "scary". Scream is an abomination, Wes Craven or no Wes Craven.

This could work if Craven ans Williamson reinvent the franchise; new cast, new killer and new town. Keep it remotely connected to the original trilogy.

I am 100% for this!

if the fourth is all that we have been dreaming about then why not run with it?

Sounds good to me, just don't rush them. It's all in the writing. Good luck Kevin and Wes.

The original scream was great.. It was one of my favorite slashers growing up.. I didn't like the 2nd or 3rd at all. Make a 4th but more in the vein of the original.

--------------------------------- www.somethingidontknow.c om With a new look and a new name, the girl formaly known as Sidney Prescot, Samantha Lee Ray will experience a new chapter in her life as she desprately tried to hide her past, she finds something that could hurt her present, and destroy her future. Not everyone is who they seem to be, which Sidney knows first hand, trust issues and constant nightmares, people want to help her, but people might just hurt her.. In a world where horror movies are changing, so dont the fans, and even though Sidney cant watch a horror movie ever again, she has no choice but to continue living in one. ----------------------------------

I'm glad to see Craven go against his word. When originally asked about a Scream 4 he said that the series would only be a "TRILOGY". I'm a little ticked off and a bit excited at the same time. Ticked Off because he lied, excited because I knew he would lie!! This could work if Craven ans Williamson reinvent the franchise; new cast, new killer and new town. Keep it remotely connected to the original trilogy. At the same time I agree with ComfyCasket!! The movies are fun to watch but they are not horror, they were not scary or suspenseful.

Yawn. just as long as it doesn't suck. Kevin needs a kick back to the horror world. And I think he'll do good I hope.

The Bedroom Window remake can be summed up in a few sentances. Heres my guess to the changes. forget the original- you probably haven't seen it anyways... Our Main Lead is having an affair with a Married Woman. She and him are shagging at his house. He takes a shower after they have sex. She remains in bed watching TV. She hears screaming outside. She looks out the window and witnesses a man killing and or attacking a woman. She can't report it because her husband will know she wasn't at work. Our main lead who was screwing her brains out just a few minutes prior. Tells her to tell him to the best of her abilities what she saw happen and he will report it as if he actually saw it. This way her cover isn't blown. So he does, and he becomes the Key Witness to the attack. That woman who really saw what happened. She's killed when she revisits him at his home by the real killer who was there hoping to kill him. Aha! Now He becomes the suspect in her murder. He tries to explain what really happened. Cops don't buy it, and like just like that Harrison Ford movie with the one armed killer. He's on the run from the law in hopes to capture the real killer, and prove his innocense...

If Kevin Williamson is gonna write the scripts then I'm all in for a new trilogy! You can say whatever you like about him, but the guy has talent in creating real suspense and the 'whodunit' elements!

slipknot611

I think they proved with Scream 3 that without Williamson, it's not as good a franchise. At least with him and Craven back on board, it stands a chance to be interesting... oh, wait, I forgot these two also gave us Cursed...
