Update: Is the Lead Role Secured For 'Cabin in the Woods'?

UPDATE: We just got off the phone with MGM who tells us Chris Hemsworth - who is starring in the forthcoming Star Trek and Milla Jovovich starrer The Perfect Getaway - has NOT booked a lead role in MGM's super top secret horror/sci-fi pic Cabin in the Woods, as previously reported by various sources. As of this point he is currently in talks. Written by Joss Whedon and helmer Drew Goddard, the only confirmed cast members thus far are Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford. The film said to provide a new twist on a classic scenario -- in this case the young-people-stranded-in-the-woods horror trope.

Stranded in the woods?? These movies could go either way. Hopefully they make this movie interesting and make it good.

i'm not hating on Joss & Co. (i DO dig him!) but this is already starting to annoy me. the whole "super secret" thing is taxing. i hope this isn't going to be like %80 hype and %20 good movie. i DO have some faith in Joss, and i'm optimistic for a good/great(?) movie. just stop with all the cloak & dagger, this movie is THE movie of movies riff.

They are just setting themselves up for disappointment. I really hope I like it, Joss is a talented guy but he should cool it on the over hype.
